    Default Tangy Green Beans

    This recipe sounded so good and at 0 pts per serving, it will fit into anyone's food plan.It is quick and easy also.

    1 (16 oz) bag of grozen green beans/or could use fresh
    1/3 cup chopped red pepper
    4 1/2 teaspoons olive oil
    4 1/2 teasp water
    1 1/2 teasp whit wine vinegar or cider vinegar
    1 1/2 teasp spicy brown mustard ( I used stadium mustard)
    3/4 teasp salt
    1/4 teasp pepper
    1/8 teasp garlic powder

    In a microwave steamer or stove top steamer, steam green beans and peppers until crisp tender (approx 7-8 minutes). Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the remaining ingredients. Transfer green beans to a serving bowl; add vinaigrette dressing and stir to coat. Serves 9.

    Nutrition infor: One serving (1/2 cup) equals 43 calories, 2 gr. fat, O cholestrol, 207 mg. sodium, 5 g. carbohydrates, 3 gr. fiber, 1 gr. protein.

    I've got some fresh organic green beans from Trader Joe's in the fridge. I'll be making this recipe soon.

    Are you sure of the calorie and points count? 4 1/2 tsp of olive oil would be more calories than that by itself.

    The recipe says it's 9 servings, the calories are per serving. I can't wait to try this!

    ok, I'm no math major but 43 x 9 = 387 calories (supposedly for the entire dish)

    4 1/2 teaspoons of oil = 120 cal x 4.5 = 540 calories (just for the oil..not even counting the other ingredients)

    Do you see what I am saying?

    A teaspoon of oil is only about 40 calories. It's 120 calories for a Tablespoon.

    So 40 X 4.5 = 180 calories

    Arlene, the total list of ingredients is for 9 servings, so you'd have to divide that 4 1/2 teaspoons of oil by 9. By plcm's numbers, we could divide that 120 calories for oil by 9, making 13 calories of oil for each serving. Hope this helps.

    got it...I was calculating the oil per tsp at the per T rate....sorry!!
