I have some light Apple Pie filling. What do y'all think that would taste like, with a Spice Cake mix?

I made this last night to take to work on monday and it is awesome!!!!!

Also, I got all of my ingridients at Walmart.. the cherries that I used was actually the Great Value No Sugar Added Cherries and they were even sweetened with Splenda...they were very good!

A question regarding the serving size. The recipe says serving size: 20. Does that mean 1/20th of the cake?

    Thanks for your help!

It never occured to me to use club soda - I have always been scared of the diet soda cake recipes because it makes me nervous to think about heating up the aspartame like that! Thanks for the idea (now if I can just find a cake mix with no hydrog!)

I know it's more trouble, but you could test it with a traditional cake recipe from a cookbook or online (simply cut out the "wet" ingredients and replace with the suggestions for this recipe)

I'm cooking this even as I type. It's my Dh's b-day cake. He picked cherries and chocolate. Has anyone tried it with yellow or spice cake and apples? I have a friend who hates cherries, but loves apples. I was just curious...

I didn't love this. I think I like the idea of the cherries in the cake, and I will experiment with other fruits and other mixes, but I won't use the marshmallows again. They didn't add to it and, if anything, it made the cake a bit too sweet. IMHO

It also stuck, but not too badly--but I think without the marshmallows it won't stick, and between the cake mix and the cherries--it would have been plenty sweet.

I made this for a family gathering over the weekend, and it was a hit, even with the non-WW relatives! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Bumping. Thanks for posting. I could see this with the choc and the cherries. Then a small dab of FF cool whip.

Another name for this cake is "Cherries in the Snow," which I find more poetic. I even think it's posted somewhere else on the site as Cherries in the Snow.
