    MasterCook Lesson 4 - Displaying Points #2

    There are several ways to display points in your recipes in MC. This is the second way I use.

    2) Add as a rating -- Ratings can be added to each cookbook to help you rate your recipes on a scale of one to ten by whatever criteria fits you and your cooking style best. You can use different rating categories for each book. For example, these are the ones I use:

    "Family" - for how much my family likes the recipe, 0 to 10

    "WW points" - for a cookbook with low point recipes, points from 0 to 10, if it's more than 10 points per serving it doesn't go in this book so the upper limit of 10 works here.

    On WW nothing is off limits as long as you count the points so the following has been suggested as a way to get around 10 as the highest rating and is the one I use in other cookbooks.

    "WW 0-9" - for points from 0 to 9
    "WW 10+" for WW points from 10 to 19
    "WW 20+" for points from 20 to 29

    To add a rating category to a cookbook:

    * Open cookbook.

    * From the Tools menu, select Modify--Ratings.

    * On the Ratings tab, type the name of the rating you wish to add -- WW 0-9

    * Click the ADD button, or press ENTER.

    * Click back into the Rating field; type another rating -- WW 10+

    * Click the ADD button, or press ENTER.

    * Repeat until all rating categories have been added

    * Click the DONE button to exit this screen; window closes and you are back in Recipe Browser

    To rating a recipe:

    * Open recipe

    * Push pencil icon to open recipe edit view.

    * Click on More Info tab

    * Scroll to the bottom of this section; you will see Recipe Ratings on the right with a box and drop down arrow.

    * Click on the drop down arrow; the rating categories for this cookbook will display in a list. Pick the one you want to use. If your category is not in the list, click the Edit Ratings button and add the rating category as explained above.

    * Move the slider back and forth to the desired setting.

    * Push the recipe card icon; recipe view opens; check your changes. Ratings will appear in the left pane of the recipe view.

    * NOTE: Occationally I cannot move the slider after picking the rating category. This seems to happen when there is only one category in the list. If this is a problem for you, add a second category -- even if you don't intend to use it.
