    Slow Cooker Chicken & Dumplings

    Serving Size: 8

    Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    4 chicken breasts, no skin, no bone, R-T-C
    2 cans cream of chicken soup, condensed -- (10.75 ounce)
    1 onion -- finely diced
    1 package refrigerated biscuits -- (10 ounce) torn into pieces

    Place the chicken, soup, and onion in a slow cooker, and fill with enough water to cover. Cover the slow cooker, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High.
    Tear each biscuit into 8 pieces or so. About 30 minutes before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.

    Per serving: 215 Calories (kcal); 7g Total Fat; trace dietary fiber (31% calories from fat); 28g Protein; 7g Carbohydrate; 77mg Cholesterol; 598mg Sodium
    Food Exchanges: 1/2 Grain(Starch); 3 1/2 Lean Meat; 0 Vegetable; 0 Fruit; 1 Fat; 0 Other Carbohydrates

    NOTES : I like to add sliced carrots to this halfway thru the cooking time. DH thinks it makes it too sweet.......YOU be the judge. But regardless, I think it goes great with carrots. I also break the chicken into slightly large chunks before adding the biscuit dough.

    I sometimes add a couple of extra chicken breast to this (depending on the amount of people eating it) with no affect on the recipe at all.

    Also, I don't happen to have the nutritional information for the 98% FF soup, so the points for this are for the regular cream soup.

    I have made chicken and dumplings with flour tortillas. Using the very low fat ones would make this even better on points.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Was wondering where I would find the total points listed for this recipe per serving? Did I miss it?

    Just wanted to let you know that I made this last night (and had leftovers for lunch today, yummm) and it was FABULOUS! I was craving something creamy and starchy, and this hit the spot exactly. What great low-point comfort food. Thanks for the recipe!

    This looks great...and perfect for the coming winter. We'll be trying this out! I don't think I will use the FF soup...not much of a difference in calories/points and I like the taste better too!

    BTW, what is a serving size for this? Maybe around 1.5 cups each...??

    I made my first batch a week ago. Talk about fast and tasty!

    A couple of things I changed were:

    Added 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Thyme-standard in some C&D recipes and works great in this one too;

    Used the butter flavored biscuits-it was "okay", will try the regular next time;

    Instead of water to cover, I used 2 14.5 oz cans of Ready to Serve Chicken broth;

    This really hit the spot. I made this recipe the first cold night in Dallas and it warmed us up nicely!
