-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 pound extra lean ground beef
1 large onion -- chopped
1 small jalapeno chile pepper -- freshly cut
2 28-oz cans Italian tomatoes (low sodium, if desired) -- drained
6 ounces tomato paste
30 ounces red kidney beans, canned -- drained

1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 pinch sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 dash hot sauce

Break up the ground meat in small pieces and cook in boiling water until done. Drain meat in a colander.

Spray nonstick cooking spray in a deep pan. Add chopped onions and jalapeno pepper and cook until onion is translucent. Add (drained) tomatoes, and cut them into bite-sized pieces with a spatula. Add tomato paste and stir. Add ground meat, (drained) kidney beans, and (drained) corn. Add all remaining ingredients and stir well.

Cook on low heat for one to two hours, stirring periodically. (Or cook, as desired, in a crock pot.)
