I'm bringing Charski's recipe over here for those who are interested! This recipe would make gravel taste good!!

"Kashi Good Friends Treats

servings | 16
estimated POINTS per serving | 2
course | Snacks

Ingredients

6 cups Kashi Good Friends cereal
1 7oz. jar Marshmallow cream
2 tbsp. peanut butter (I use reduced fat or Better 'n Peanut Butter)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. Hershey's choc. syrup (optional)

Instructions

Mix together marshmallow cream, vanilla, peanut butter and syrup. Melt in
microwave on High for 30 seconds. Stir and continue microwaving at 15 second
intervals til it can be stirred smooth. Add cereal and stir until well-blended. Press into 8x8
pan coated with cooking spray. (I press it in by putting a small baggie over each hand and spraying the baggie with cooking spray - works like a champ!) Refrigerate until cool. If desired, drizzle with the Hershey's syrup. Cut into 16 squares.

I think with the Better 'n Peanut Butter they're actually closer to 1.5 points each.

Gets your peanut butter "tooth" satisfied too!

Thanks, Char! Carol

I would like to ask if this could be made with any cereal other than Kashi. I assume it is cereal as I have never heard of it or seen it in the grocery store. Well, I have never looked for it either so-- But, how about Special K or something???

Sure, Marian!

I used up some Kashi Good Friends, some Kashi Puffed Wheat, and some All-Bran that was about 10 years old!!

It was DEEEE-licious! Actually, it was a trigger for me, and I couldn't stop thinking about it (and eating it) until it was gone!

Special K would be great...as would any other dry cereal, probably! Carol

Dear Charski,
Made your Kashi treats today. Used up the box of Kashi that had been getting stale in the pantry. One question though, the recipe said the chocolate syrup is optional. In the recipe instructions it calls for adding the syrup to the marshmallow creme and then calls for topping the treats with the chocolate syrup if desired. So my question is: Is the choc syrup added once or twice. When I made it today I just didn't add any chocolate syrup at all. It was really good just the same.
Thanks for a great recipe

PS To Marion: I think you would be better off using a cereal with more fiber like bran flakes or 100 % bran and another cereal in combination. The amount of fiber might affect the point count and Special K has next to none.

LAMom--
The syrup CAN be used twice in this recipe...once as an addition to the marshmallow creme/PB mixture, and once drizzled on top, if you want. I, too, make them without the chocolate syrup added at ALL and like them just fine that way!

Hi all!

Just made another batch of these, and as usual, since I can never leave well enough alone...made some substitutions!

I had a bunch of boxes of opened cereal cluttering up the cupboard, so here's what I used: 2 cups Simply Bran, 1 cup Kashi Go Lean Crunch, 1 cup Honey Nut Cheerios, 1 cup Barbara's Cinnamon Puffins (crunched these up a bit), and 1 cup dry TVP. I didn't bother with the chocolate syrup, just used the jar of marshmallow creme and 2 tablespoons Better 'n Peanut Butter. I patted it all into a 7x13" pan and topped with a light sprinkle of cinnamon chips. I diligently went through all the labels and figured out the points, and cut into 16 bars, these came to 1.5 points each. AND they beat the heck, taste-wise and otherwise, out of ANY of the "granola bar" type 2 point bars I've had, and even the Rice Krispy Treat bars!

Plus, the dry TVP gives the bars a protein boost they don't have otherwise.

As Carol says, that marshmallow creme/PB combo would make gravel taste good....

Hi Charski,
Boy do we love your Kashi Treats. I made some with half Good Friends and half Puffed Kashi, and added some mini chocolate chips. My younger daughter and her friends love that one. Then made some with Good Friends, Complete Bran and low fat p-nut butter and p-nut butter chips. Those are awesome!!!!! Best of all it didn't change the point count for them. My 10th grader loves them and since she lost 3 1/2 lb last week they must be good for you too!
Thanks again for such a great treat

Thanks for the bumping. These look really good as I LOVE Rice Krispy Treats but stay away from them. These would be more points-friendly and nutritious because of the fiber.
