    HAMBURGER SOUP *4 POINTS SERVING* [img]graemlins/thumbup.gif[/img]

    1/2 to 1 lb hamburger 7% fat
    2 stalks celery, chopped
    2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
    1 onion, medium,chopped
    2 quarts water
    1/2 cup barley or rice
    16 ounces canned tomatoes
    1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
    1 bag frozen vegetables, your choice
    salt
    pepper
    garlic powder

    1 Partially brown the hamburger and drain.
    2 Toss in the celery and onion, and cook until translucent.
    3 Drain again.
    4 Pour in water.
    5 If using barley, toss in and simmer 1 hour.
    6 If using rice, simmer 1/2 hour and then toss in rice and simmer 1/2 hour more.
    7 Partially chop the tomatoes, and add the potatoes and vegetables.
    8 Simmer 45 minutes more.
    9 Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste

    I have made something similar but added green beans and cabbage it is delicious [img]graemlins/bcbsalute.gif[/img]

    How big is a serving? Sounds good. I would probably cook the burger in the microwave.

    It makes 6 servings..
    I would say about a cup in a half... [img]smile.gif[/img]
