Default How do you get your healthy oil in???

Just wondering how you get your healthy oil in. I have been lacking this area lately and just can't seem to get it worked in. I add it to hot cereal but don't have that every day and don't fry something everyday to have it that way. So how to get it in???

No, I don't do the oil. I tweak the WW program and use raw nuts instead, usually walnuts.

However, you need to do what is right for you.

you could add a tsp to any of your main meals, on top of vegetables, salads, casseroles, it just mixes in.

Thanks Soda. I never thought about veggies or casseroles. Maybe I will start doing that. I wish I had a recipe for a good oil and vinegar dressing, but don't.

Well I don't eat grain everyday but do put it in my hot cereal when I have it. I almost never, ever make a smoothie. But I will work on other ways.

There's a thread on the ww board about this:
    http://www.weightwatchers.com/commun...e=OPENDATEDESC

    Here are my favorites:
I sometimes mix it in with my morning oatmeal - it really is GOOD! Other times, I mix it in with a cup of FF yogurt, or ff Greek yogurt - also GOOD! I have it in a bowl of grits, with butter buds to flavor it a little. Most days, I put it on baked potatoes with Butter Buds, chives and Yoder's ff sour cream. It's heaven to this potato-lover! Sometimes I mix it with a little vinegar and salt and pepper to make a salad dressing - if you use red wine vinegar and stir in a little Grey Poupon, it becomes a mustard vinaigrette (I also add a little finely chopped onions to this) - I just whisk it until it looks right.

I get a lot of my oils in when I make veggies... in a big pan I put 1-4 tsp of oil, plus usually some water for steaming. It works out to 1 tsp per serving or so, and makes the veggies a bit more toothsome. I also use it to saute onions before pretty much any bean dish. At times, I will pour a tsp of really yummy olive oil into a little dish and dip my bread into it. I sautee onions and garlic, etc. in oils before making soups, sauces or any casseroles. I usually use FPs for more oil than 2 tsps a day to ward off the migraines I have.

Donna, that's a good idea - I tried to sneak some into a drink, but that didn't work out too well. Maybe drizzled over a potato instead of my fake butter. But I love the nuts as an idea since I tend to be below my daily that shouldn't be a problem. I love walnuts, but I have been snacking on almonds. I bet they don't have as much oil.

I realize some of these don't fit in with Simply Filling all that well, but this is a list I picked up from a poster on the WWers website.

Having trouble getting in all your healthy oils? Here are some ideas. You only need to eat 2 tsp of oil per day. (1 teaspoon is a serving), So you can get it in throughout the day. Healthy oils are: olive oil, canola, sunflower, safflower or flaxseed. FYI: Fish oils, Oil capsules, Avocados, peanut butter, nuts, etc, do NOT count towards WW healthy oils requirements. Only the pourable kind count.

    1) Cook with it, Alot of recipes start off with oil in the skillet
    2) Mix up a marinade for meats and/or veggies
    3) Mix it with meat sauces, or most sauces
    4) Sautee with it.
    5) Drizzle over pasta
    6) Drizzle over popcorn
    7) Drizzle over veggies
    8) Drizzle over pizza
    9) Drizzle over corn on the cob
    10) Drizzle some over fat free cheese(it helps melt better)
    11) Mix up some salad dressing (like olive oil and balsamic vinegar)
    12) Rub it on poultry or fish before baking it
    13) Rub it on meats for the spices and/or rubs have something to stick to
    14) Rub some on a baked potato
    15) Grill sandwiches
    16) Stir Fry veggies
    17) Coat some homemade baked fries
    18) Makes garlic toast, (oil and garlic on bread toast)
    19) Add some to soups
    20) Add some to smoothies
    21) Mix 2 tsps olive oil to fat-free salad dressing
    22) Add to anything that is fat-free. instead of the fat, you're replacing it with healthy oils
    23) Roast veggies with oil
    24) Mix canola oil to oatmeal, yogurt, smoothies, soups
    25) put some in salsa
    26) If you eat frozen dinners, drizzle some over it.
    27) make some Herb or Spice Infused Oil, (for dipping or cooking)
    28) Mix in some Butter Buds or Molly McButter, you'll have butter flavored oils.
    29) Mix some in the new PB2 peanut butter flour that alot are trying. (you're replacing the fat with healthy oils)
