    Default Looks like I am back! Simply Filling vegatarian style?

    I nkow some of the vegetarians are here! Wondering what you swap in for meat? (I am not ready for tofu.) And wondering just how much protein you are finding you really need.

    I know it is different for each person.

    And, I absolutely have some blood sugar issues that I know will be helped by getting back to whole grains and more vegetables in my life, but I need a good supply of protein.

    Anyhow...here I am again. Not sure about meetings just yet.

    Beans and greens is how I do it. I have input my foods into thedailyplate or chronometer and both show me I meet protein requirements (and other requirements). Have you ever tried that?...

    hi tegteg
    it is surprising how much protein is in foods that you do not typically think of as protein foods. Add them all up in your daily and weekly food intake and protein is not a problem. IF you track for awhile at one of those sites that has all the nutritional information it is quickly apparent that you will exceed your protein requriments even on a vegetarian diet. If you are getting enough calories you are getting enough protein.

    I eat beans, fruits, grains, vegetables, nuts, soy or dairy milk and hardly ever eat tofu. I don't mind tofu it but my family balks and there are other foods I can eat

    Beans, yes. We had a nice chickpea, spinach, and rice casserole the other night.
    Slowly getting my brain back around all of this.

    I think it does protein. There are many that do. It's very reassuring, to say the least.

    I am inputting the meals today. It says I have already had enough protein. The next thing I have to work on is the blood suagr issues. I feel it coming on, then I feel a little cranky, then I either realize it is blood sugar and eat or I just stay cranky and realize later. Yesterday, a few pretzels in the car did wonders for me - even though we were on our way to lunch.

    I need to figure out a few things that can be left in the car or easily carried in my purse.
