Thread: If you can have 4 oz. of a meat is that pre-cooked or post cooked?

    Default If you can have 4 oz. of a meat is that pre-cooked or post cooked?

    This has always been a little confusing to me? Like the 93/7 ground beef I bought figures up at 1 pt. per oz. so is that pre or post cooked.

    It depends on what NI you are using.If you are using the NI from the label then it's raw weight. If you're using NI from another source you need to find out whether the source is using raw or cooked weight.

    Point values will differ between 4 oz of cooked vs un-cooked meat. You need to weigh it, either cooked or un-cooked and use the correct values. For example, eTools gives the following points for:

    4 oz of uncooked ground beef (85% lean) = 6.5 points
    4 oz of cooked ground beef (85% lean) = 7 points
