Default Pasta- points by the oz?

I just brought a whole grain pasta shows 3 pts for 2 oz. How do you measure that in cups? I know that dry ozs are differant than liquid ozs. I have a measure for spagetti by the oz but need to figure out the cups for the other noddles. Help!!??

I always just weigh pasta and noodles dry, and whatever they are when cooked, that's fine. I feel it's more accurate that way. For example, we fix 2 oz. dry pasta (by weight) per person and then divide it evenly after cooking, and with whole wheat pasta that is 3 Points per serving.

"Ounces" by volume are the same dry or liquid. 8 oz. = 1 cup.

"Ounces" by weight: 16 oz. = 1 pound.

If you're talking about water, 1 oz. by volume = 1 oz. by weight. Everything else can vary, sometimes by quite a lot!

thank you so much for the info, it was very helpful.

I found another bag of pasta and it said 1 and 1/4 cup = 2 oz. But wouldn't 8 oz of pasta be a cup itself? I wish I had a scale, I really have to get one to make sure I don't go over on my points

Probably in that case 1-1/4 c. of pasta (dry) would weigh 2 oz. on a scale.

A digital food scale would be a great investment for you. You'd become a master of this stuff in no time. Good ones start around $30 (I have one that weighs to 1/8 oz. or 1 gram). You can get them at any store that sells small appliances ... Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, etc., etc.

1 1/4 C. of COOKED pasta = 2 oz. of DRY pasta. And that's approximate measurments.

Depends on the pasta.... which is why I always go by dry weight.
