Thread: I need help figuring out these green giant veggies

Default I need help figuring out these green giant veggies

I bought some of those Green Giant frozen veggies. You know the ones that come in a little square box that you boil or microwave in a pouch??

So tonight I made the brocolli and cheese. The NI states a serving is 2/3 cups and that there is 2 1/2 servings per container approximately. That would mean the package should hold approximately 1 and 2/3 cups right??

Anyway I cooked it and measured it up and I all I got was 1 cup. How do I count this??

The NI says per 2/3 Cup

    60 Calories
    2.5 Grams Fat
    2 Grams fiber.

I was scared b/c the serving sizes don't add up so I ate 2/3 cup and counted it for 2 points instead of one. But I have 8 more assorted packages of these so how do I count them accurately??

If you made it this far.. THANKS For listening! This has me confused really. I just don't want to sabotage myself. I figured this out b/c I wanted to see how many points was one in whole package but as soon as my package measured out to be less than stated I started wondering about the whole thing.

Ok, so you measured out the whole package and it came to one cup - which ends up being 1 and 1/2 servings. With the NI per serving being 60 calories, 2.5 grams fat, and 2 grams fiber (1 point), then 1 and 1/2 servings would be 90 calories, 3.75 grams of fat and 3 grams of fiber: which equals 2 points.

I love those little packages and often eat a whole one myself. Remember, their serving size on the box IS an approximate amount. Enjoy!

Okay so the serving sizes on the boxes are just wrong... I thought maybe..this is dumb..they were measuring it frozen and in it's frozen state there really was 2 1/2 servings in each box.

I also eat a whole box at one time so I just wanted to be sure I'm counting right!

    Thanks!

So I finally got a response on this from Green Giant. The NI is for 2/3 cups FROZEN veggies. IMO that's dumb. It's not like we measure them frozen.
