Thread: Full Fat Cheese... how many points?

  1. #1

Default Full Fat Cheese... how many points?

Regular cheese, like sharp cheddar. NOT low fat or fat free. Just plain old full fat cheese. Does anyone know?

How much is a serving? 1 Ounce?

How many pts is that serving? 3 pts?

    I did a search but I couldn't find anything.

    TIA! ~ Gina

    Per the WW Food Companion:

    Cheese, hard or semisoft regular - 1" cube, 4 T shredded, or 3 T grated (1 oz) = 3 points.

And to count as one serving of milk/dairy, you need to have 1 1/2 oz of cheese.

I count as follows for cheddar cheese, based on the label:

    1/2 oz. = 1 pt.
    3/4 oz. = 2 pt.
    1 oz. = 3 pt.

    Yes I weigh it.

Thanks for all your help. I weigh mine too on my old WW scale that I got ages ago. I was thinking it was 3 pts but I didn't have the packaging.

I am slowly but surely buying more and more low-fat/non-fat foods but I'm not intending to throw anything away that I already have. I just limit myself in that case.

beats me. Both methods can give you the illusion of having more cheese than the little block. To be safe, I always weigh my cheese.

I don't use lowfat or fat-free "cheese" products. I have never liked the taste or texture. The full-fat stuff is fine and when I lost my weight the first time it was the only kind that was legal (On Program). That's where the 3/4 oz. portion comes from (it used to count as 1 Protein exchange). I still use deluxe American when I use American cheese, which is very rare. Today, using full-fat cheese adds just a touch of decadence.
