Thread: Does Laughing Cow Cheese HAVE to be refrigerated?

Default Does Laughing Cow Cheese HAVE to be refrigerated?

I normally keep it in the fridge, but I brought a wedge to work yesterday and didn't eat it. It stayed in my lunch box over night. Could I eat it today, or would that be a very bad idea??

    Thanks!

I would say yes. It is kept in a refrigerated case at the store. Judy

It is NOT kept in a refrigerated area at three of the places I buy it here. Although, once I purchase it, I do keep it in the fridge.

Good news! I checked their website:

Do The Laughing Cow® Wedges need to be refrigerated? For the best taste and texture, it is best to store wedges in the refrigerator. However, they can be safely stored in cool, dry conditions for a limited length of time, and are great for adding to lunch boxes or taking to work for a quick snack.

    Kristie,

I got such a kick out of this i had to share with you....I am not kidding either..
I went to my WW meeting today and my leader brought me a wedge of a new
type of cheese.......Mini Babybel light. 1 point semisoft cheese..must be by laughling cow too since it has a laughling cow on the package.....

what i found funny is...i found myself thinking how long has that been UN- refrigerated......hahahahahah It's all your fault...cheese looks yummy though...

That's good to know...I've always been curious myself.

I think it falls into the same category as the pasteurized cheese products that come in gift baskets or the velveeta sold at the store.

I talked to the cheese people at Whole Foods, and they suggested hard cheeses as being the best options for non-refrigerated times (like when backpacking).

When I moved to the Chicago area I thought it wasn't sold here, then one day I saw it in the spaghetti/parmesan cheese area. Turns out the chains I shop in don't refrigerate it. I was a bit freaked out but it tasted fine. I actually like it room temperature!

I knew a guy in high school, who's parents never refrigerated butter. Ever. And obviously, you buy butter refrigerated. They'd just leave it on the counter and they never got sick.

I'd say you're okay since it was just a day.

Do any of you buy your Laughing Cow Cheese at Walmart? I just moved to a new state and can't seem to find it here. I used to buy it at ShopRite before I moved. Thanks!

I buy it at Walmart. The Walmart I go to has it in the deli area in the refrigerated area with the prepared subs and salads.
