Here's what I do with Tilapia and other fishes. I only have to cook for myself so pts are for 1 fillet.

    1-6 of Tilapia fillet-----4pts.
    1tbls or less of FF mayo--0pts ( 4 tbls is 1pt )
1 slice of WW bread made into crumbs----.05 pts. ( if you count 1/2 pts.)
    a bit of parmesean cheese---0 pts (2 tbls is 1 pt. )
    garlic powder

Spread the Mayo on top of the fish. Mix the bread crumbs with the garlic and cheese and sprinkle on fish. Bake till fish is flakes. This keeps the fish nice and moist.

I have been pan frying my fillet in a teflon pan sprayed with PAM...adding a little lemon pepper and paprika and some smart balance squeeze margarine.

I wrap mine in foil packets...then I add tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapenos, mushrooms, bell peppers...pretty much any veggie I have on hand. I spray the foil packet w/ the butter flavor pam before adding in the veggies and the tilapia. I sqeeze some lemon on top....add a little bit of salt....bake...or make on the grill....delicious!

How long do you bake for?

I've been making mine in a nonstick pan wiped with olive oil. I sprinkle pepper, garlic powder and lime juice on it. That and a salad makes a good lunch.

Try cooking them on the George Forman grill, they are great that way.
Sometimes I put just a little salt and peppre on them, othe times I sprinkle them with some chili powder.

I have never tried Tilapia fish. My DH asked our butcher about it and he said it had a lot of bone in it. Does it?

    Thanks

I buy Tilapia fillets at Wal-mart and they don't have any bones in them. If it is the whole fish it might though. Tilapia is one of my favorite! We use the Tortilla Crusted Lime recipe that is posted here all of the time. DH loves it. A very mild white fish.

Sometimes I will lightly "frost" the fillet with FF mayo and the sprinkle with seasonings and bake it. That is my kids favorite.

i have a great tilapia recipe- i just made it last week

    its a faux fried tilapia

    what you'll need:
    low fat bread crumbs
    fat free mayonaise
    tilapia

take the tilapia filets and spread the fat free mayo on both sides. then dip the filets into the breadcrumbs.

put fish on wire rack under the broiler- 5 minutes each side.

when you think about it- to fry fish, you use egg and then fry it in the oil. well mayo is eggs and oil. but instead you use the fat free mayo. the fish is crispy like its fried and its super white and flaky. i didnt even tell my boyfriend that i didnt fry it and he didnt know! its yummy!

    Default Tilapia Gumbo Surprise

If you leave out my surprise you are Core. But the turkey pepperoni adds a fun flavor and doesn't cost that many points:

    Tilapia Gumbo Surprise
    WW: 2.75 per 1 cup

    3 T Olive Oil 3
3 10 oz. packages frozen Okra,
    1 cup chopped onions, 1
    1 cup Green Pepper, chopped
    2 tsp. minced garlic
    5 1/2 cups Chicken stock
    1 sprig parsley
    1 Bay Leaf
    1 tso fresh thyme
    2 tsp. salt,
    1 1/2 pounds tilapia filet 16
    3 tsp. Lemon Juice
    3 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce,
    3/8 tsp. Tabasco Sauce
16 slices Hormel Pillow Pak Sliced Turkey Pepperoni, 2
    1 cup diced celery

In Dutch oven, heat olive oil over moderate heat.
Add the okra, onions, green pepper, celery, garlic and cook without browning for about 5 min.
Add tomatoes, chicken stock, parsley, bay leaf, thyme, salt and pepper.
Bring to boil, turn heat to its lowest point and simmer, partially covered for 1/2 hour.
Cut tilapia into 2" pieces. Drop in simmering 5 min.
Add turkey pepperoni. Simmer 5 more minutes. Season with lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco.
    Makes 8 one cup servings
Ladle gumbo over small mounds of hot brown rice in deep soup plates (2 points per half-cup).

This is especially great if you have OD'd on tilapia or other fish. Given the low points you can certainly add more fish.

    Quick, easy and tasty:

Drizzle with lime juice, spray with ICBINB butter spray, and microwave til fish is flaky. I always have to rearrange the fish in the pan halfway through so it cooks evenly.

I have a tilapia recipe I make about once every few weeks. Its DELICIOUS!

Place tilapia in a casserole/baking dish that was sprayed with cooking spray. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and squeeze lime slices over top. Then I usually throw the lime slices on top anyways. Bake and serve with Uncle Ben's Spanish Rice and fresh salsa (I use Jacks Special Salsa) and a dallop of ff sour cream. Its soooo good and fresh tasting.

I bake my fish @350F, usually for about 3-5 minutes on each side. You'll know it's done if it flakes when cut with a fork. It should be white in color.
