    Default Breakfast apple crisp

    Yummy! and quick.
    5 points

1 apple with skin diced 1
(of course I leave the skin on for more fiber! )
    1/2 cup oatmeal 2
1tbs Brummel and brown spread 1
1 tbs Splenda brown sugar 1
    1/2 tsp apple pie spice

Mix oatmeal, Brummel and brown, brown sugar and apple pie spice together. Sprinkle on top of diced apples. Microwave till apples are tender (mine takes 6 mins). You can top with a dallop of FF Cool Whip if desired

You can also brown under the broiler after microwaving if desired .

Does the oatmeal get hard? Just asking since the recipe is called Apple Crisp..

Nope, mine stayed soft If you want it to get a little crunchier, you can put it under the broiler for a couple of minuets.

    What's "Brummel and brown spread?"

It's a yogurt based butter spread only 45 calories per tablespoon. You will find it next to the Olivia, Smart Beat, and butter. You can use any low calorie spread instead of butter in the recipe I am sure

Hmmm. My husband has a lot of allergies and he has problems with yogurt. Could I use something else that would come to about the same amount of points?

I'd just use regular lite margarine if I were you.

Do you cook the oatmeal first?

Just made this. It's HUGE and filling. Pretty good. I used a tbsp of applesauce in place of the spread and it still worked out fine. I'll be making it again, thanx for the recipe.

Does anyone think this would keep ok if there are left overs?

I made this last night with frozen mixed berries and I am having it again this morning. I used the apple sauce instead of the spread (we don't get that good stuff up here in Canada) and it worked out well. Last night I made it in the oven and then this morning in the microwave. It's definitely a little more crispy in the oven but I love it either way.

    Thanks Juniper!!!!
