I think I can, I think I can, I think I can

One of my favorite children's book has always been "The Little Engine that Could"

When I am facing challenges that seems overwhelming, and let's be honest here, knowing that I needed to lose 85 lbs to reach a healthy weight, is overwhelming! Some days just the thought of losing 5 lbs can be!

So, lately, if I am having a rough day or starting to doubt myself, I imagine myself climbing a mountian (Hey, I do live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountians!) saying I think I can, I think I can, I know I can!

I really believe there is a lot of power in believing that you are able to achieve your goals, and can't believe that after I don't know how many weight loss attempts, that I finally and for the first time truly believe that I can lose the weight, reach goal and maintian my loss. It is a very powerful feeling! And it has helped me get through this very stress-filled week!

Remember, we can not FAIL, as long as we don't quit!

Trish, I love your attitude. Positive self talk is the key. I am going to be celebrating with you when you reach goal. This is your time and I'm excited for you. The struggling and stress is not uncommon. It's life on life's terms and we are learning one hour at a time, one day at a time to live a healthy lifestyle and make healthy choices. I am so glad we are on this journey together my friend. God bless.

    Fluffy,

I have really seen the difference that thinking positive has made in my weight loss journey. It is that mental "click" that I believe that makes the difference between successfully losing the weight and keeping it off and being unsuccessful. However, I still have my moments! Thankfully, they are fewer and farther between than they used to be, and I have been very quick to put a stop to those negative thoughts! I know that there will be many challenges ahead, and that I won't always overcome those challenges the first time, but I do know that I am refusing to quit!

I am looking forward to sharing this journey with you and can't wait to celebrate both of us reaching our goals!

A leader many years ago made us a "Can do" can. Just a empty veggie can, label peeled off and she made a label to put on it. I have kept that can. It was about the I think I can thing. It was a great visual for me when I felt like I couldn't.

You are right, there is a lot of power in believing that you are able to achieve your goals.
