I realized this morning that I have not posted to my blog in quite awhile. I also realized this morning that I really need to post to my blog. Whenever I have a bad stretch, I quit posting. It is almost - it IS like I don't want to face what I am doing, and posting to my blog makes me actually face those bad thoughts and habits head on instead of just brushing them off.

1) I have been sick. Allergy season is here. My allergies turned into a sinus infection. I just finished my antibiotic and am feeling better, but for several days I had no appetite. Now that my appetite has returned (thus I am actually eating) my body is hanging onto everything. I did not starve myself on purpose - I wish my body realized that.

2) I started running again on Tuesday of this week. I went out and bought a new pair of running shoes as the ones I have here at home no longer fit me. Funny how weight gain changes the size of your feet. I am hopeful that this will change as the weight comes off and they will fit me again. Anyway, on Tuesday I dusted off my I-pod and loaded it with music for my first day back pounding the pavement. I decided to do the Couch-to-5K again (they say the third time is a charm - I believe this is more than 3, lol). I love this program and I love the way that running makes me feel. It really does improve my mood.

3) I am taking a 8 Weeks to Wellness class at work. My employeer has really started to reward wellness. I got my yearly blood work done and was extremely happy with my levels. My total cholesterol was 138. My triglycerides were 62; HDL-32; LDL-93.6 and ratio-4.3. My fasting blood sugar was 77. My blood pressure was 106/68. I am learning alot and enjoying the class. The instructor is working on a new strength training program for me so that I can once again put my workout room to good use.

4) I have tried two new foods this week - well, one new food, but two different kinds. Squash is of course now in season. I picked up a butternut squash a couple of weeks ago and made a wonderful dish of barley, butternut squash, apples and onions. It was delightful. This past week I picked up a spaghetti squash. OMG!!! It is to die for. So wonderful with spaghetti sauce over it. I definately have to pick up a couple more of these.

5) Support is so important when commitment to the program is flagging. I have to give a shout out to the wonderful ladies on the @ Home board here. No matter how many times things seem overwhelming, they are always there to give me a lift up or a kick in the **** to get me back on track. I am so grateful for the friendships I have made here and the support I receive.

This is a long journey - a lifetime. I want this journey to continue until my last day. Only then can I say I was successful.
