Good morning!
I got up early this morning and have been messing around on Facebook. I do love it, btw. I know I waste an enormous amount of time playing on the computer. I should be knitting! Think of the projects I could have finished. Anyway, I originally joined b/c my girls were posting pictures of the grandkids and I wanted to see them. I have re-connected with cousins and children of cousins. Not to mention high school friends. Many of our BCB posters will take the time to jot a status on FB and not get here to post so it is another way to keep up on our activities.

Commercial over!

I have the jewelry show today. My best friend, Beth, is the rep and her dil sells stationery and personalized gifts. She is going to set up her things in the sunroom. One of Ann's friends is selling some new candle (eww) so I told her to come and set up too. What the heck, right? I baked cookies yesterday and have a savory egg dish to go in the oven later. I realized last night that I have coffee and tea and no other choices. Oh, well. I hope I have a good turnout.

I ran errands yesterday morning and did the grocery shopping. When I came home, Mom came downstairs and stayed down here until after dinner. It was great to have her feeling well enough to come down. She sat at the island and helped me mix up the cookies, too! She did sleep so much better the night before, so I'm sure that made the difference in how she felt.

Later today, my niece is bringing dinner to us. That will be perfect since I wasn't interested in cooking tonight! Ha.

I really just wanted to stop and say hello. I have to unload the dishwasher and get the cookies on a tray. Then shower and then they will be here to set up. Busy morning for me.

Oh, Emme has been sick this week. Mac went back to school after his bout and Emme got sick same day. Annie is hoping for a fever free night so they can all sleep. They are sure it is not flu. Just a low grade fever and cough.

Okay, I have dallied enough. Have a great day.

Hugs,

Morning friends. Getting off to work early. Leave 6am to count my money, open doors at 7. I am going to try to let the difficult people slide off of my back. I need to do this. There are so many great members/staff. I'll be fine.

Tonight the Sisterhood has a beautiful very moving Women's healing service. And today is the day my Toby died I think three years ago. ( I blocked out the year just like I have no idea what year my dad died either.) I will need healing by tonight.

PT says get better shoes to walk in, the cushioning will help my other knee. I'll see but that may mean a podiatrist first. Gee it's always something. I was in such good shape one month ago.

My numbers are climbing. I am at goal today. Today is the day I start this all over again. Drop a few pounds get 3 below goal. I upped the bike to twice a day when I can to make up for no walking. I cannot let the food/pounds win. I grazed yesterday on all good food but it was grazing all the same. Today is different.

Linda it is nice to hear from you and I am sorry things are so hectic for your family. You deal with it as best you can and we will be here waiting for you to come back.
Carla your mom is smart, doing what she can when she can instead of laying around moaning like my MIL would have. Good for her and good for you having such a good relationship.
Joan have fun with Finn the cutie. How old are his sisters and do you see them much too?
Mary sorry you lost that post. It's a gremlin for sure.
Liz I hope you are coming along.

They asked me to work a Monday night meeting in the Palisades but I just don't want to drive there at night.

Gotta run
Peg

HI.

I am not in word either and have the splint on til at least monday when I go to the orthopod.

Linda- so sorry to hear of all your troubles- way too many for 1 person. Thanks for stopping by amidst it all.

I love FB. Love Fb. Love Fb. It's a good way to stay in touch or at least be in someone's face or they in yours. You can get a quick word in, see pics, play a quick game. Interesting camaraderie playing a game together.

Peg- you have to stop treating being at goal as being a dissappointment and failure. YOU ARE AT GOAL-- be positive about that accomplishment. I am glad you are enjoying the ww work so much.

Carla - good luck on the jewllry show

LJ- So sorry Charley is sick and that the visit with your English visitors might be affected.

Katy- thanks for the pics and report on your visit with sue. I had no idea that you were a corp tax acct! Happy BD to Bill!

Luanne- you and I are both trying to book rooms to no avail- maybe next week......... DID Kath like the Land's end jacket?

Jant- when is Karen off for the holidays? I think Aviva comes bac kon Dec 15 as Dec 14 is her last exam. I have to figure out if she goes back the 4th or the 11th.

Jan- how did the birthday celebrations go last night ? Congrats on all the losses!

Skeen- Iam always amazed at all the good works you do despite your medical condition and all the real work you did in the past.

Sheila- we are having lots of fallout here about teh vaccines- hospital directors jumping the cue- when they are just on the board You have the flames we have the raptors. The whole thing is quite amazing.

Bonnie- does P like his new position? Good that Tom is getting so much work.

Going to lunch with a bunch of ladies today. Been to the gym 2 days in a row and mean to get there today- but still have to do things I do not ned my left hand for.

STill having teen issues but finding ways to deal with them.

DH lost enough weight to wear shirt I bought him 2 years ago that was too small.

Ok before I lose this...May come back later

Good morning. Charley is feeling better. No fever and we are going to just hope that this is the end of it. I am washing and spraying everything. Maddie is here now because Joe has another ear infection. Jessie took him to the doctor not so much for the ear as for the cough... I think it is a bit more now.

I didn't get to see our friends yesterday but will have them for the afternoon on Sunday is everyone is well.

I ate bread last night. I had this wonderful bread for our guests and well since they weren't here and I was feeling very sorry for myself I ate about 3 slices. That was a huge help as you know... now I just feel bad about having the bread in addition to missing the friends!!

Cadyn just called and I have to run Maddie down there to play. Will try to post later. This Nanny business is getting very busy.

Good morning,

Well, I have lost 2 posts this morning at the same spot on writing. I hate that button !!!!
Sarah (still asleep) and I are here alone. She's better but not well. Reece and William are off with the cub scout float to the Colorado Springs Veterans' Day parade. William looked so cute in his cub scout outfit. Jeri and Amanda and John Henry are off to the Awana Pine Box Derby. They are dressed as their cars and hope to win a prize of some sort. John Henry is a policeman to go with his police car and Amanda is an astronaut to go with her rocket car. They look cute enough to win to me

LJ, I know you are tired of the Lysol perfume adorning your house. I'm glad to hear the sickness is better.

Carla, hope your jewelry party is a roaring success. I am not familiar with that brand of jewelry I don't think' I know I am
missing something.

Katy, somewhere I missed hearing about the day you and Sue met. I'm sure you had a wonderful meet up. Such fun.

Linda, I am so sorry about all of the troubles in your family. That's a lot to shoulder all at one time. Bless your heart.

Peggy, I'm so sorry you are having troubles with your joints. Just when you got all skinny and beautiful the body doesn't cooperat and let you enjoy it to the fullest. Doesn't seem fair, does it?

I had the greatest Tinkerbell birthday party last night--complete with hats, cake, napkins, plates, and all the trimmings. The kids were beside themselves. Such fun. Wonderful day.

Arlene, I surely hope you get your splint off soon. It seems like it has gone fast. May not to you however

I hear Sarah and I need to get dressed before I get her up, so I'm off to get that done and then we will play. What fun ---just baby Sarah and me

Enjoy your Saturday. Supposed to be warm here in Colorado.

Jan

Good morning – late. The phone has been ringing and I’ve been casting on for the next project – a ‘tam’ for Alexis. It is a fair isle ‘clock’ when done. You could actually put a real clock at the center, but I don’t think so. She has a quirky sense of humor and so I’m aiming at that. For the knitters among us, it has a provisional cast on, which always makes me nervous. I could lose two inches of ribbing when I have to join the two rows, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Carla, I was wondering whether the candles aren’t the kind that Kelley and I went to a party for. I actually love mine – I have a cute little plug-in nightlight which has a miniature bowl on the top in which you place this little cube of scented wax. (They probably had over 70 varieties of scent.) It has an on/off switch and one little cube lasts for over 40 hours. Right now I have the kitchen smelling like lilacs in the spring. Hope the party goes well. And what was the egg ‘savory’ you made?

Joan, I love how you are so upbeat when you’re going to have time with little Finn. He is adorable, I agree, but the effect is equally adorable.

Peggy, hope you make it through the day okay. Lots of mixed emotions. The healing service may be just what you need. I was interested in PT guy mentioning shoes. I know when I’m done with this, I’ll be getting new shoes from the foot doctor. She has a whole line of Dr. Comfort which I’d never seen before, but they have a lot more room in them. Part of my problem is vertical space as well. I wonder if you couldn’t just go to a foot doctor to check them out.

Laughed at your ‘numbers climbing’ but still at goal. I just tried to see what the damage was. We have one of those digital scales you have to wait for the 0.0 to appear before getting on. Now remember I have to do this ostrich style – one legged. I kneeled on my scooter until the zeros appeared and stood square across both sides. It said I weighed 5 pounds more than the day I left. I suspect that’s all in the wrappings and splint – as well as the sneaker on the other foot, but enough to make me think twice.

Linda – what a bummer of a report. What can we say? Hang in there and find something every now and then to cheer you up. That’s when I would definitely play a book to get into another world.

LJ I applaud only three slices of bread! I would have eaten the whole loaf. Glad to hear Charley is feeling better, but it would be nice if all of you were.

Jan you are definitely in your element with those kids. What a great place to have your birthday – and it sounds as though everyone (plus) got into giving you a party. How wonderful – and how loved you are.

Not anything planned here – other than foot up and knitting. Jack will be watching football and grumbling about the cooking he has to do. He didn’t complain at all this morning about emptying the dishwasher though – a moral victory.

Have a great fall weekend everybuddy.

A quick drive by I have company coming over belated party for Bill.

What a bummer the clams Bill ate at lunch/dinner the other day made him sick. I don't think he can eat them once on a cruise he had them and got sick. They don't bother me but he will NOT BE EATING them again.

Carla, Liz, Sheila and Arlene sounds like you are all getting along OK. That splint will be off soon Arlene. But it sure didn't slow you down did it? Carla glad your Mom was up and about yesterday. She sure does know her body, eh? Liz as I stated before Jack might be getting use of doing what needs to be done. If he complains at least you know he's paying attention. Sheila soon the work will be completed, house will be clean and you'll be out and about.

OK gotta get things ready for company. Out friends CJ & Don will be here they have been gone all summer to various places. We will be hearing all about them. When I talked to CJ this AM she said they went to my reservation so I am awaiting their input. Isn't life interesting.

Jan I'm happy you had such a SPECIAL birthday.

OK gotta straighten up this house and get gussied up.

later,

katy

Yesterday was a busy day and for Tom especially. He left the house at 7:30 a.m. for school, went to the church after school at 4:00, home around 7:00 and I had gotten P home from work, we ate at Wendy's (all I had for supper was a s.c. and chive potato with the butter and s.c. but didn't even get my pts in yesterday....now, that's busy!) and then all 3 of us went to the church so P could get familiar with the sound equipment and I/we could practice the songs. I am so glad we went because there was a lot to work through. We will leave a couple hours early today. There is still a little more to do but basically we are ready. It will be what it will be. I'll just be greatly relieved when the first service is over.

When we got home last night around 10 or 10:30 Tom realized he had left his Kindle at the church so turned around and went back to get it. Also, when he went back he could not get the alarm set again, called the pastor but it was late so had to leave a msg. Not good. That was his first time using his "own" church key.

I hope I'm not repeating all that from last night. I can't remember but seems like I got on the computer a few minutes while he went back to the church.

P is working 4 hrs today and will be home around 2:30. He gets a paycheck for the first time in a long time.

Now for WW news: I went this morning and have lost 1.2 lbs this week. I worked hard for it, too. Our regular leader was out of town and another one who is also very good was there.

Talked to L last night after texting her back and forth and trying to call her, then she called back. She got her pkg and is back at R's. For those with inquiring minds, L and I are fine with each other. We have a different relationship than R and I have, but we love each other and my love for her is no different than for my other kids.

LJ, sorry your visit with the friends was messed up. Hope you enjoy a visit with them before they leave. And I truly hope Charley is doing much better. I give Tom Airborne every day before he heads off to school.

I'm going to rest a bit, then we are having some Dunkin Donuts Coffee (minus the donuts) that I got on sale at Publix this week.

Have a wonderful Saturday, all.......

Hello All: The weather has been absolutely amazing in my corner of the world. Beautiful sunny skies, temperature in the 70's. Perfect fall days following the cool rainy October.

I have a turkey roasting in the oven. Jan and Matt will be here to share this evening's meal . I'll have nice leftovers for tomorrows lunch. Wal-Mart has Butterball turkeys on sale for 60 cents a pound, limit of 2. I put the other turkey into the deep freeze.

I had a check up with the doctor Monday. I had lost 6 pounds since my last Office visit the first week of October.

Tuesday I sat as a Supervising Judge for a Special School Bond Election. I enjoy the other judges which made for a pleasant day. 5:30 to 7:30 made it is a long day hours wise.

Have a good day.

Good afternoon, Dear Buddies. I am sitting here catching my breath. I have two crockpots side by side on my kitchen counter. They both have rosemary pork tenderloin with root veggies cooking in them and the aroma is heavenly.

Bonnie - I hope you don't think I was questioning your relationship with Laura. I just love hearing about the little differences in our families. We are all unique and I like hearing about our uniqueness. I thought I remembered Laura moved to Atlanta for a job but now I think I am confusing you guys with another one of us.

I only have five seconds here. My sis and I are using mani/pedi gift certicates at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa today. My kids got them for us for Christmas last year and we forgot we had them. I don't think I am dressed nearly nice enough for the Red Door. I need to borrow Sheila's new bling!

Found a sparkly top and black pants for the cocktail party. The pants were two sizes less than last winter's clothes and FOUR sizes less than I started. I may be the slowest loser of us all but when I am 95 years old, I will finally reach goal. LOL I also found a grey flannel dressy coat. My DH actually applauded when I walked in with garment bags. I will add a nice assortment of my MIL's bling (FIL was a jeweler and she had serious bling) and I will be good.

PFTD: Mani/pedi with sis. Go with her to find a birthday present for her fussy DIL. Deliver crockpots to two different houses. Supper with friends. Mexican - that is just a hopeless cuisine for me. If the calories don't kill me, the salt will. I will nibble and act like I am eating and come home for soup!

Take care, Skeen

Not a problem, Skeen. L has moved to Atlanta, back to TN (with ex and DGD), back to Atlanta and now back with R. She is hard to keep up with, even for us.

Good day at work. Busy first meeting and they all bought something. It seems I work retail more than anything else. Lots of joiners and each one had a different way to join. No one wanted to pay joining fees but no one had coupons. Go figure. One lady coughed swine flu all over me. Not sure what it was but I was PI$$ed and showed it. I hope she gains this week.

It seems the leader and other recep. are annoyed if I ask a question I asked them last week. They keep me hopping answering their questions and fixing their computer woes so I dragged my heels this week helping them and maybe they'll answer my questions nicer. It's all "where do we keep .......?" coming from me. They have big procedural stuff I never complain about and ALWAYS Have an answer for. Geez.

If I am three pounds below goal consistently and I get to goal that means I have Gained three pounds and I certainly am going to be annoyed about that. Or else I will gain 50 in one month. Easy for me to do. I have to watch the ounces and the pounds will take care of themselves.

Going to do my puzzles, cook dinner and get ready for services tonight.
Peg

Afternoon Friends,

Busy day so far. Have been to walk in the water (2 miles), home, to Babies R Us and then to lunch with a former intern(pregnant) of mine. Now, I need to go to a church nearby where the teens are building a cardboard city for a fund raising/awareness event. I've been asked to be a judge for the cardboard homes. Also, invited to spend the night with the kids. My, my, I think I'm too old to be sleeping on the ground in the cold. Glad I'm not homeless. Maybe our efforts will keep some families from having to live like this all the time.

Linda, so sorry you are having so many issues to deal with at one time.

Carla, glad your mom seems to be feeling better.

L.J., sounds like your town (and household) is full of the flu. I really am aware than I need to wash my hands all the time. I had a client (14 years old) last Tuesday who coughed all the time. I'm always surprised that people go out in public when there is such a risk of passing on whatever you have to someone else.

Katy, the pics were nice. Looked like the four of you (Sue and hubby as well as Bill) were having a nice time. Sorry that Bill is under the weather after eating the seafood.

Carol, we've also enjoyed gorgeous weather this week. I've noticed how beautiful our trees were and went inside yesterday to take a picture of the tree in my front yard with the sun shining through it. Of course, my camera's battery was low and by the time I had it charged the light had changed. Today a great many of the leaves have fallen.

Mary, did the kids enjoy their Halloween costumes?

Bonnie, so nice to have all of those incomes coming into the house. Makes one breath a little easier. Right? Praying for you as you lead the Spanish ministry.

Judee, hope the visit with the cousins is great. How many of you (cousins) are there in all? I have a lot and they are all ages from me on down to one who is 41.

Loye, the pics on Facebook are too cute. However, if they don't list your last name in their names I'm not sure who I'm looking at. I think they are among that huge group who calls you Grandma but I'm not sure.

Sheila, hope that knee continues to heal. Seems like it is a day by day thing. Is the siding all complete? Door painted?

Skeen, how is the daughter who was recently hired to run a shelter for animals doing? Has she brought home any more animals? She may be the one who is at a workshop now.

Norma, hope your hands are healing from all of the cleansing. Sounds like your house and L.J.'s may smell the same (that good old smell of Lysol).
Glad your vein procedure was less painful this time with the cream. Hope you and Danny got to go on the bike for the day. You deserve a break.

Peg, your days really sound busy now that you have picked up so many meetings to do. Seems to me that my friend who worked for WW for a long time said she made the most money from the sales of WW items. Good for you if that is true as you seem to be selling a lot of them.

Shar, I guess your are on your way to AZ. Have a safe trip and our prayers will follow you all the way.

Arlene, I'm sure you will be so happy when the splint comes off. Doesn't sound as though it slowed you down but I'm sure it did.

I know I've missed a lot of you but I really do need to get on out to the cardboard city.

Sandra

Hi, all. It has been a beautiful day in TN today - much more like September than November. The sun has shone all week and today's temps were in the 70s. Indian summer, I guess.

Today I went with Billy to his daddy's. Billy was mowing/chopping up leaves. I climbed the ladder to pull leaves out of the gutter. The work wasn't too hard and I got a great and unexpected reward - his daddy had made us a little table to set in front of the bedroom window. I just love his furniture, and it was just what I wanted

Karen is in Peachtree City, GA today - her sorority sisters are visiting the Phi Mu sorority headquarters. She drove down last night and had called Billy before she got to Chattanooga - she thought the wheels were falling off her car! Billy figured out that she had warped the breaks by riding them as she came down a big hill. She says they're better today. She just texted that she was on the way home - hope she doesn't have the same trouble today!

Arlene, I don't think Karen gets out of school until the 18th or 19th. That last week is exams for them, and she has an exam on the last day. I'm glad it's almost time for your splint to come off. It'll be nice to do things two-handed again. I hope your get your "teenage" problems solved.

Jan, I'm glad you had such a good birthday. I hope Sarah was feeling well enough to enjoy the "Tinkerbell" party.

Peggy, I understand how you feel about your weight getting to goal - if you were consistently below goal, that 3 pounds did represent a gain. I made the mistake of thinking that as long as I was below goal I was OK - and once I got back into bad habits it has kept creeping up. Now I'm a few pound OVER goal and have to start over! You're smart to keep a close eye. I'm sorry you are hurting now. At least you know it's not your weight causing the pain.

Carla, I hope your parties go well. What a good idea to combine three different types in one! I'm glad your mother felt well enough to stay downstairs with you last night. I hope she enjoys the parties and doesn't overdo.

Bonnie, I know Paul is excited about the first paycheck! I'm glad Tom's getting to sub so much. That Spanish teacher must be sickly, though - he seems to be getting to sub in there a lot! I guess that's good since it's his favorite sub job.

Carol, I was sorry to see that you might not be able to come to Atlanta. I hope things work out. I haven't ridden a bus since I was in college and that was only from small town to small town so it wasn't bad.

Liz, I know it's hard on you haveing to stay in one spot all the time - you must really miss those morning walks. I'm glad you're getting to go to your friend's for dinner. How lucky that they have an elevator!

Sheila, I'm glad your knee is doing well. Great idea on the house cleaners - and good idea to pick and choose the rooms!

LJ, I'm glad Charley is better today. I know your Nanny time is getting busy - but isn't it enjoyable! I'm glad you're going to get to see your England friends tomorrow.

Linda, you really do have too much on your plate. I hope things get better soon. Hopefully you'll enjoy having your daughter home again - much better than living in a bad situation.

Sandra, it sounds like you're busy! The cardboard city sounds like a good idea. Are they sleeping on the floor to imitate the situation of homelessness?

Joan, I took my Mexican Train dominoes to Indiana last summer - several of us played one evening. I've just got one set, but I'll be glad to bring it if we decide to do a domino evening.

Billy just left to go do a star-gazing party in Tullahome - I guess I need to get some schoolwork done. Sure does get dark early here. It feels like 8 or 9 and it's only 5:30! Have a great night. Jan T

Skeen, hope you enjoyed your mani/pedi today. The full crockpots sounded good!

Katy, I'm so sorry that Bill got sick on his birthday lunch. Billy gets sick eating salmon and anything that swims upstream - but it took a try or two before we discovered it.

JanT, maybe I haven't counted the times correctly (well, really, I haven't counted them at all) but I didn't realize it had been that many times Tom has had Spanish class to sub. Maybe 3? Some of the ones he has subbed for has been for them to attend some type training. He does have one teacher with a chronic health problem that he subs for. You are so blessed to have such a talented FIL! I've seen his furniture in person and think his work is wonderful!! It seemed like over half of your house had his special craft in it. Are you going to post a picture of the new table?

Well, the first Spanish service is over and Tom and I are so tired. I think we will sleep well tonight. The stress of preparing was one of the hardest things on us. Not too many there but it was a good start. Tom did a fantastic job with his message totally in Spanish. I'm so proud of him. He thinks he's terrible but he isn't. One of the Hispanic ladies said he did a great job.

Sandra, please tell us about the cardboard city judging event and how it turned out. I was just reading an article about a church not far from us that feeds thousands of needy people each month in their soup kitchen. There are so many people needing help. We have now reached over 10% unemployment in our country for the first time since I think 1983!

Some have mentioned P's paycheck being a help in our house. Well, of course it will be somewhat, but we are wanting him to save most of it to help him get out on his own. He will have a lot of it go for child support as it is. And he will still be with us for months I'm sure.

Off to bed......

Hey buddies! Just a couple of late comments here. First, I had a wonderful visit with my best friend today. We had a chance to catch up and we both hope we'll be able to get together more often than once a year.

Arlene, the Land's End jacket will be a Christmas gift for Kath. So, I don't know yet if she likes it.

Also, it seems that the Courtyard Inn & Suites in Braselton had absolutely no record of Judy's call to them and knew nothing about Altanta BCB. The guy I talked to said it would have been him, or one other guy who would have made the arrangements. He apologized all over the place and is planning on calling Judee. I'm not even sure if she's home right now. I didn't give him my phone number, but maybe I should have. I know our meet is still a few months away, but really, it seems like they should be able to keep track of us.

Just back from Women's healing service at our Synagogue. Very very nice. I actually sat with a woman who was on a very public trial last year. Very interesting.

Came home and had two glasses of wine in memory of my sweet Toby doggie who died three years ago today. Now to bed. Tomorrow we celebrate my 60th at a great Deli restaurant. I wish you could all be there with us.

Actually you'd love the healing service. It was beautiful. We sang the ending song Adon Olam to the tune of We gather together. It was beautiful all of those female voices.
http://www.hebrewsongs.com/song-adonolam.htm The Adon Olam can be sung to ANY tune so it's such fun to end services to. At the kids B'nai Mitzvahs we sang it to the UCLA fight song.
