Hi everyone,
I'm just curious. With so many of us strapped for time, I was thinking a number of us must workout at home using videos. I'd love to hear what your favorite video is. How do you feel afterwards? Have you seen results? Another poll question- do you find you can commit to working out with a video easier than committing to going to the gym? Anna |

I have bought several videos from Prevention (the magazine) and I highly recomend them...simple, easy to follow, and enjoyable. My fav is 3-2-1 it's a circuit of 3 min cardio, 2 min strength training, 1 minute abs. It works the whole body and is only 1/2 hr.

Don't mind me jumpin' in here. I love love love Crunch Bootcamp Training! It's only 30 minutes, and it's a good mix of cardio and strength. It only requires a set of weights and little room. I had it on VHS and just recently bought it on DVD. I don't use it as much as I used to but I got nicely toned with this video a couple of years ago. I mostly use workout videos as a supplement to my regular workouts when I don't have time to hit the gym. I love to workout to videos though because it doesn't matter what I look like, or what time it is I can get it done!!!
**Check out Collage Video for tons of workout videos that have 1 minute clips and reviews.

I much prefer the gym actually. I have to say though that my gym has a lot of good classes at times that work for me. I wouldn't be able to go the gym to work out on machines I just don't have to patience for that. I get bored too easily. I'm also very social and the classes I attend are usually attended by the same ladies everyday so you build friendships and then they'll say hey I haven't seen in a few days where have you been? Zumba is my all time favorite class. If I had one to pick that I couldn't go without that would be it!! I've done some of the videos that Zumba has out and I don't really care for them but Zumba taught in person is so much fun. It isn't that hardest workout I've ever done but it certainly is the most fun.

Hey everyone! I love Leslie Sansone Walk at Home. Its really easy to follow and you can choose if you wanna do 1 - 2 or 3 miles at a time. She works in some strength training with 2lb weights too. I like it because for me its "doable". If the dvd gets too advanced or too complicated, i wont stick with it! I also like ( and i think someone else said this) that dvds are nice because it doesnt matter what you look like or when you do them! Sometimes i just get up in the morning and work out as i am!! That would be extremely scarey if i tried to go to the gym like that
!! Also ~ if you like to dance... Yoga bootyballet is a fun work out too! It combines dance, yoga and ballet to really tone you! Mikkel

It might seem a little silly, but I LOVE Richard Simmons Sweatin' to the Oldies. I don't know why....I just do. =)

Hi Anna,
I love all the videos by Cathe and Jari Love. They are pretty intense, but I always see results and they keep exercise fresh. Both have cardio and lifting. If you check out collagevideo.com, they have every kind of exercise video you could want--with reviews, video break down and segments you can view. You can also search videos by level and type of exercise you want. I love this site and always check it to see what is new. Hope that helps ![]() Allison |

I am currently attempting Jillian's 30 day shred. I LOVE it. I was doing it awhile ago and got up to level 2 consistently - but then I was out of town for a few weeks for various things and I'm back to level 1 - but it's still a great workout!

I like Jillian's videos, too, as well as anything by Gilad (Bodies in Motion guy). I find him incredibly motivating and fun!

It's not a video but a video game.. I just bought myself the EA Active (should be here on Friday) for the Wii. Several friends have it and say it is a really good work out. I've watched the videos on their website and looked over the list of exercises and it looks like it will be a lot of fun. It comes with a resistance band for added training.
I cant wait to try it out. I know for me, I am able to work out better in the privacy of my own home. I always feel like everyone is watching me at the gym. |

Thanks for starting this thread and all the great info. I am more comfortable working out at home than in the gym and I live 30 mins outside of town, so can't make any more trips than necessary(gas still isn't that cheap).
I really want to try a dance video because I think it will be more fun and I will be more likely to actually use it. I think I will have to try Jillian Michael's DVD as well since so many people like it. I also have almost talked DH into getting a Wii and the Wii fit. MommaChocoLatte-the EA Active is different than the Wii fit? Will you let us know how you like it? Thankyou Melinda |

There are exercises on it that use the Wii Fit balance board but they are more advanced versions. It is basically a virtual personal trainer. There are SO many activities. There is also a 30 day challenge option. So far I am loving it. It's totally kicking my butt lol. |

I personally love anything by Gilad also (Bodies in Motion Guy)......I think I enjoy them because he works you up to the pace you can handle--the one I have is called Beginners Weight Loss and Toning Program. It has 3 sequences, (its a dvd) so if you choose to only do one sequence, then you click to the cool down and work your way up the next day! Its great! Plus the Hawaiian backdrops dont hurt any.........I used to LOVE working out with Denise Austin in the mornings, but she is no longer on lifetime anymore! When I called our local cable provider, they said she moved to digital cable channel.......SORRY.........im not spending an extra 25 dollars a month for digital cable to watch one show, when I could buy a whole set of dvd workouts for that! lol..........(or half a months ww meetings!)
I also like hitting the gym...I go to our local high school where they have the total circut training weight room (LOADED with tons of awesome equipment) and hourly aerobics classes........also walking in the halls--all for ten bucks a month! cant beat that! It gives me and my husband a chance to go workout at the school with other parents we know--my youngest son (17) is in the marching band , so after we workout we stay and watch the band practice! GReat way to end the day! Tonights our first night back at the gym since I recommited to ww. My first meeting is tomorrow night! Wish me luck! |

I really enjoy working out to Leslie Sansome's 3 miles Walk Away the Pounds. As someone else had mentioned, it consist of a 1 mile, 2 miles or 3 miles Walk Away so the DVD has options. I was working out to that DVD pretty consistently and worked my way to the point that I was still getting a workout, but it wasn't as intense and then, I went on vacation and coming back to it... boy it's totally killing me!
I find it easy to follow and yet it's intense. I am definitely not the most coordinated person which is why I have never been able to follow the Firm or any other high cardio work out videos and stick with the 3 miles. I will have to look around for something else cuz it can get pretty boring after a while. |

I actually find going to the gym easier to commit to than a workout video. I'm probably the oddball.
I like to take gym classes because once I'm in one, I'd be mortified to be the "fat girl leaving early," so it pushes me to work harder. My sister tried the WII Fit - I think that's what it was called. When she entered her stats, it made a cartoon picture of her & when she did her weight, it ballooned out & told her she was obese. She & her husband thought that was hilarious, but she was more motivated to stick to working out & lost some weight. I have a few workout videos for things that aren't offered (or I'm too embarrassed to do) at the gym - like pilates & yoga. I like Anna Cabban's Beginning Pilates Mat workout. I like Gilad, too - he's on FitTV or whatever it's called. He's been on FOREVER - I used to do his workouts in late middle school even. I now DVR some of his shows. I prefer doing that to videos, actually.

Thank you MommaChocoLatte. We will have to try out the EA Sport when we get our Wii, hopefully this month or next.
