Good morning Esther, and buddies. We still have no power. YEsterday, no phones, no electric, no heat, no computer, no nothing. We rode around in the truck to stay warm, lol. Last night, we tried to get a hotel room, but all were taken. So, we ended up at my boss' house. She took us in with open arms, and she's dog-friendly too. We showered, watched the super bowl, and slept without 5 blankets on us. (it was only 42 degrees in our house) We're praying that we get power today-we're worried about the pipes now, but we did empty those pipes out so that there was no water in them. It went down to 10 last night. I have some absolutely gorgeous pictures! I'm at work today, so at least I am warm. Bryan will take a vacation day so that he can stay with the dogs until we have heat again. Poor pups don't know what is going on.
I'll catch up today, and get back here. We will probably be busy today which isn't a good thing-I feel like leftover garbage today.....
Nancy
Slow and Steady wins this race!!!
First, Sandy, go ahead and do the weeks challenge, as far as I am concerned. Nancy probably is still without power, and I know I don't want to be in charge while I am not home.
Trish, so very happy you start work today!!!!!! And big congrats on the raise before you even start! You will do great learning to multi-task again!
Sandy, what all did you cook yesterday? I forgot to tell you a funny. I went to the advanced bicycle on the Wii one day last week. I missed a flag somewhere and could not find it. After about 25 minutes, I could not keep going, so G got on to find it for me, took him another 15 minutes to find that flag and then figure out how to get back to the gate. This was after he had just done 1 1/2 hour, non-stop, getting his workout in. We went over 8 miles on that bike that day. The flag was beyond the dark tunnel, and I had thought it was a cave and made a u-turn. That flag never did show up until we got into that tunnel. We were both exhausted and had such a laugh at ourselves!
Nancy, sure hope you are not still without power! Hopefully you headed out to your daughters, if the roads are passable.
Karen, how much organization did you get done yesterday? Hope this week is a lot less busy for you at work. There are lots of things to do in the area here, but with it being so cold, we will probably just hang out here in the complex. There are all sorts of activities going on here. Movies three times a day, and everyone that signs up to go at a specific time, votes on what to watch. Organized walks (again, too cold for me!), the pool is outdoors, so i won't be putting on my swim suit this trip! But I will have no problem keeping myself entertained. There is a big outlet mall about 2 or 3 miles from here, so that will be a great destination for a couple of my days!
Rhonda, back to the store to do more sewing today? Are you in the bad weather too?
Katy, I hope Scott does not have to drive thru any of this snow storm to get to Florida today. Two weeks alone???? big sigh, but no, I won't let myself be jealous!
Tanya, how much more till the kitchen will be done? Hope a lot got accomplished this weekend, with the help you had! Hope your day goes really smooth for work too, no stress today!
Cressa, you off today? Hope you have the best day ever!!
Christie, have fun at your superbowl party? Happy that you got new furniture!
Lisa, how did the day go by, with leaving Miss M alone for a bit? Did you worry about her???
G and I had our own little superbowl party here in the unit, even tho there was a big party at the big screen downstairs. Deliberately did not have too much food available to nibble on, but I still overate yesterday. We have our free breakfast downstairs today, and we are going even thou it will be coffee and doughnuts! Sigh! Then lunch out too. Feel like i am fighting a losing battle. Hopefully rest of the week we will be eating in the condo!

Oh, Nancy!!!!! At least you found a place to sleep without having to breathe frozen air! Did you take your laptop to work so could get the batteries charged, or no, maybe at your bosses house last night? You are probably right about it getting extra busy there today! People will be coming in, just to get warm!

Good morning Buddies!!
Nancy, I'm so glad you were somewhere warm! How horrible...we have been trying to follow your weather... unreal! I can't even imagine. Think your power will be back on tonight?
Esther, I did lots of organizing but it really doesn't show because there is still so much mess. R is picking up shelving boards for me today and promised to help me get them up. Hopefully he will and that will give him brownie points. haha... The mess I have created will not be fixed overnight... Have fun at the mall!
Trish Congratulations!! So happy you start to work today! You will get it all back together. Best wishes!!
KAREN
Good morning.
Nancy good to see you. and so glad you found a place to stay. Hopefully power will come back on today? amazing all the things we take for granted.
Esther, I have have done the same thing on the bike ride. I and I am so stubborn I wont quit until I find it..good exercise though. Glad you and Gerry are having a good time. I was cheering the Saints on last night. Fred and I watched the game at home with the pups, not a parting couple-- ha ha..
karen- you sound like me get the cleaning sprees going on and it creates monsters....glad R is going to get a few points..ha ha..Hope you can come out and play today. I actually have a little bit of work to do...not sure how to act...
Cressa are you back at work this week? Feeling better I hope.
Tanya how did home reconstruction go this weekend. Hope you day improved yesterday. Are the in laws still there?
Lisa how was your weekend. fast paced keeping up with Miss M's schedule?
Trish----CONGRATS on the job. Can't wait to hear about the first day. (I hate those) It's taken me 8 months to get comfortable in my new home...
Katy did SC got off ok this morning? all grandkids home after a wonderful weekend at grandma's house...
Rhonda how are you today. Loved all the tips for coffee filters...actually have used a few of them...
Christie how was the party? Back at work already...I just wished Mondays didnt come so fast...and it take so long to get to Friday...
Well tomorrow is the dr visit I have been dreading. I have had time to get used to the idea and have done research and have questions ready. Hubby apparently has been doing research on his own. He was giving me info about it this morning. and asking if I wanted to get a second opinion after this guy. That has made me feel tremendously better that he is not fighting me on this and will be there for support. Cant wait to hear what his questions will be...
Ok I will go post this weeks Challenge
Morning Sandy!! I'm going to try to come out and play today... I don't want to rack up those tokens against me again...haha How was your weekend?
KAREN

Improve Your Mood with This 2-Minute Exercise
But how do you get yourself into a good mood when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, or so many little things are going wrong that you’d have to be unconscious or really snockered not to feel pretty anxious and upset?
The answer is simple: practice gratitude.
The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. And if you’re trying to go from feeling down about your situation to feeling good about it, the shortest path is to be grateful for what you’ve got.
Just sit down for two minutes and think about what you have to be grateful for today. Come up with 3-5 things that make your life better than it would otherwise be at that moment, and write them down. These don't have to be big things--in fact, this will probably work better if you focus on little things that change from day to day. Putting the same things on your list every time will make the exercise less effective. So you might include something like being grateful for not having a headache, or enjoying your morning coffee that day, or having a pleasant moment with a family member or friend.
If you have the time, think for a minute or two about how and why you have those things in your life, and how to keep them there. If what you’re grateful for is having certain other people in your life, think about how you can let them know how you feel.
If life is pretty hard right now, this may feel a little artificial, trivial, or phony at first. But do it at least once a week anyway–fake it until you make it, if you have to.
The distance between a bad mood and a good mood often isn’t nearly as far as we think it is, and the shortest route is often to practice a little gratitude for what you already have.

Hi galfriends! I've created one heck of a mess. Karen's spring cleaning bug has come up her and hit me. I've cleaned and reorganized a closet and now I have both the sewing and embroidery rooms a wreck! Even boxing up some things for a rummage sale this spring! But now back is screaming and don't know how much more I can do.
Esther, that is too funny about the Wii biking. How do you ride a bike on the balacence box? Yes, we are getting snow but nothing compared to the east coast. We'll have 6-10" by tomorrow. Am staying home today.
Nancy, so glad you found a warm place to sleep with the pups. Don't suppose anyone has generators for sale? They're probably all gone too! Glad B is home wiht the pups. Poor things, hope he has their sweaters on them!
Sandy, that is so terrific that F has been doing his own research. See, he really does care; he just doesn't know how to show and communicate it. Bet it made you feel warm all over! Be sure to check in as soon as home from dr so you can keep us posted.
Tanya, bet you're ready for your vacation!
Karen, I'm taking away 3 tokens because you did not say hi to me. grrrr.....
Trisha, what's this, you got a job I hear? I'll have to go back and check out your post. Super High Five!
Ok, need some food, have had only 3 grapes and even though they say we are not supposed to get hungry after WLS; I'm hear to tell them they're full of it! Think I'll have some leftover soup. Oh, came across a recipe for Lasagne soup. The Olive Garden commercials have been calling my name so think I will give it a try tomorrow. Will post if as good as it looks.
Until later, huggie doodles!
Hi Rhonda! HiHello
Now give me back my tokens! You were not here for me to say hi too... don't 'grrrr' me
I'm sooo sleepy!! Think a nap is in order!
KAREN
Thanks for the heads up Sandy!
Karen, I'll Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you anytime I want. Not like you'll come to Iowa so I'm safe, lololol
oh who said nap. i so wish i could have a nap. had some soup for lunch and then took a shower. im still super sleepy but gonna still try to go to zumba. we'll see what happens. my friend isnt going cuz shes sick.
rhonda my cousin got the backpack on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product
k. just got reassigned the project i got out of on friday and it has to be done yesterday. im not happy right now.
I said nap Tanya! I wish ... Go to Zumba, you will be glad you did. I'm going to the gym alone...Keri had to leave.![]()
KAREN
Rhonda, hi, hello, good to see you!! (I did not want to get growled at). Maybe after you sleep for a bit your back can feel better and you can get a bit more done. Just listening to how Karen is cleaning, makes me want to go home and do at least one project. Thankfully, by the time I get home, that mood will have passed!
Karen, going to the gym is good. Exercise does give us energy, doesn't it, at least after we quit aching so bad!
Sandy, that is a good thought. I do try to remember to feel grateful, but was very glad for the reminder! So glad Fred is doing research on his own, so it won't be just "you".
Tanya, be sure to get some sleep tonight, not staying up late after zumba. You need to sleep!

Wanted to post that before I lost it. I have done nothing but eat all day today, again! What is it with me that vacation means eating what I want! I will do better tomorrow. Supposed to rain tomorrow here, so I signed up for a water color class. Will have to see how it turns out. Have NEVER done this before, so will be interesting. Hope they have enough people sign up so they won't cancel it.
Got laundry going, then will go get my nap, or at least rest. Naps are getting harder to do, but at least I lay down and rest.
Will check back in a bit.

Esther cant wait to hear how water color class went. They would laugh me right out of a class like that... Hope you got some rest.
Tanya you will be stomping and dancing away a Zumba tonight.. work out some of that frustration..
rain and thunder has started...
well i am going to zumba. not cooking supper. DSS can have leftover pizza from the game and DH can eat at pool. im signing off but may be back tonight to work on that stupid file. ill get more done without being bothered by everyone.
be in late tomorrow. DH has follow up w/his doc about his meds. not sure if ill get in to post before then.
sorry my posts are so short lately. just a lot going on. ill try to get some updated pics for you later tonight. took a few but didnt upload yet.
Hi, Hello and how the heck are you Miss Esther! A watercolor class sounds so fun! enjoy!!
Sandy, didn't buy the machine yet. I found the same one online for $1200 off and on top of that $800 more in rebates. Special ends Wed. Told the gal how I really would rather keep my money local and she is matching the price! It embroiders, sews and quilts!
Tanya, thanks; I HAVE to get me one of those for Lady I think. Don't think Bella would keep it on.
Well I'm going to lay down a bit. Did find out that Alex doesn't close tomorrow but instead works 7am to 2pm. Much better! Very happy about that. Poor lil Hazie just doesn't sleep well here.
Hello, my buddies. So glad to be able to get online, finally. Broke down and replaced the laptop. I almost bought a netbook, but really wanted the DVD/CD player and most do not come with that, so got more like a mini, but not all that small. It is nice, and fast. I got a lot of use out of the other one, and it may be able to be set up for the grandkids to play their games on (although they like to be on-line, too). We shall see. The boys were yelling at me for being such a penny-pincher (I was going to take it in and get it wiped clean then re=install the operating system, but it was so outdated). Six years is a pretty long time for a lap top that gets the kind of abuse I give it with all the traveling - sitting in hot cars, or cold cars, in and out of motel rooms, etc.
I will try to come back on later and do some personals, but my manservant is not here to do any of the chores!!! I do miss him already, and really worry about him on the road by himself. Guess I'll have to get this machine all set up and then open the mail. We are expecting a huge snow storm, but I have tomorrow off to attend a "grandparents' tea" at Emma and Eli's school. It will be nice.
Will catch you all later.
"Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right." -Henry Ford
Wow, slow day here! We WERE busy at work, and due to my lack of heat and good sleep, I had to keep my wits about me. I have the next 3 days off, but a doctor's appt on each day. 2 pre op appointments and one scar injection appointment.
Sandy, thank you for doing the challenge. I feel like I dropped the ball, but it's amazing how much blows past you without no electricity. Both Bryan and myself are soooooooooo happy to have heat and lights again...we're under another winter storm warning for Tues/Wed.Honestly, it makes me sick to think of losing our power again.
Esther, I sympathize with the eating on vacation....I simply can't limit myself on vacation. I feel like I'm entitled or something.
Karen, so R is in good graces these days? Thank goodness. Hope you had fun at the gym.
Rhonda, Mack refuses to keep a coat on-he will rip it off as soon as he can and then rip it to shreds. He'll even try to rip Curbie's coat off too.
Tanya, I hope you get good sleep tonight!!
Katy, new laptop is a good thing. SC traveling by himself isn't. He'll be there soon, and hopefully keep in touch with you. Sounds like a wonderful day you'll have tomorrow.
Sandy, I wish you good luck and smooth sailing tomorrow. I'm so happy that Fred seems to be involved in this now. He needs to be and I'm sure it makes you feel much better to know that he "has your back" so to speak. Make sure you get your answers and I'll be thinking about you tomorrow! Big hugs to you!
Nancy
