Getting us started and will be right back.
A couple of pictures which Lauris sent me yesterday:
1) Remember my telling you that a local artist wanted to paint the farm. This is the result:
2) Lin's kittens are now five weeks old. Here's one having a bath. I think it was closer to 3 1/2 here when she had to 'tickle' them to get them to excrete. Lauris calls this "Kitten praying"
3) Finally, and I Love this one. Lin was apparently showing Ciaren some of the expressions you can use as a model. (Remember she was a pro many, many years ago.) I practically flipped at the 13 year old tomboy -
She looks so much like her Mom. I'm so blessed with a most precious DIL and GD!
Will now go read yesterday's posts for later comments.
Not sure where I left off yesterday, but I did want to comment on Peggy’s upbeat posts. Of course you were going to master WW and other things. It was time for you to take control of your life. But I loved, loved, loved your introduction to one of Hank’s friends and knowing you charmed him. YOU GO GIRL!
Hey, we (DH) did dinner by himself yesterday. Major victory. Of course it was one container with everything in it. Punch sensor heat and start, but he did it. Was most frustrated because the dishes were all clean in the dishwasher and hadn’t put themselves back. Left most of the items he didn’t know where they went out on the counter. I was getting ready to mount the velocipede when a friend called. She’s coming out of her own surgery and said “Liz, don’t you dare. Leave them there. He’ll eventually ask where they go.” So I’m closing my eyes and waiting for him to ask where they go. One thing at a time.
I slept fairly well – in two hour spurts as I wake up every time I have to turn over – but better than before. Got up at 5 because I went to sleep at 8.
Skeen, at least the surgery is scheduled. I was wondering why it was taking so long as you’d indicated it had to take place. Well, if you need an army to move a paperclip it takes longer. I’m assuming this takes place at U of VA? You can keep your UFO’s. I’m happy as a clam with a box full of kits to work on – plus a mystery sock knit-a-long starting on Saturday.
Has anyone figured out why their posts go poof. I don’t think that’s happened to me more than once. But I still prefer typing in word beforehand so I can read earlier posts on a parallel window.
Loye – congratulations on the new ggd! How many does that make? Sure keeps you busy. You are bringing pictures to Atlanta!
And speaking of Atlanta, Judee had better not even think about planning anything on Wednesday. I think you heard my thoughts – don’t need any plans as far as I’m concerned. Give me a coffee mug, a camera, and my voice and ears. That is it in the necessity department.
Jan, good for Jeri on the D.C. trip. It really is a marvelous city. The memorials and special spots are so full of meaning. You can tell her that she isn’t the only one who has cried at most of them. That metro system is phenomenal. Of course, I could spend weeks at the Smithsonian as well. [No, I will not get up too soon after yesterday’s lecture about keeping the foot above the heart. There is too much discomfort to take off rashly – most of it is the splint rubbing, but it prevents me from moving too much.]
Katy have a great time with Sue today. I’m so envious – it just wouldn’t have worked for me at this juncture. And your RV trip reminded me of the one time we went to a Gator football game. Ten of us in an RV – it was a party from 9 a.m. until we got home close to midnight. Those were the days of cheap baby-sitters.
Luanne, you may be right about our mothers eating habits coming from depression times. Mom was chunky for a short period, but never as solid as I was. She hit some prediabetic numbers and immediately controlled her diet, getting down to 120 where she stayed until the Parkinsons started eating away at the body. (Sheila, I didn’t know until today that we had that in common. Mom weighed 85 pounds when she died – completely out of it and fetal.) I never remember her being beyond a size 12. She also never had snacks in the house, which would very much have be related to the depression when they just didn’t think about buying those things.
Sheila, I’d be tempted to call the high school for a kid to come in after school just to dust and run the vacuum. There are lots of kids who want to earn something – and who knows, it could be nice to have a young friend on call.
Cooking disasters. No, it would be hard to beat Joan’s sister! That is a classic. My first turkey was two weeks after arriving at Fort Sill when Jack invited 8 friends to Thanksgiving turkey. Our 2x2 stove wasn’t big enough to hold the turkey – which required a two hour telephone call with my mom coaching me through plans. Then Jack wanted sauerkraut with the turkey and I didn’t know what the stuff was then. Many years later when I was working I coached Kelley through stuffing a turkey when I was at work and she was at home. The office was small and pretty soon we had it on the speaker phone with everyone in hysterics. Just think about how to describe stuffing your turkey “put a handful in the….”
Y’all have a great day.

I haven't accomplished a lot yet being alone those 2 days. Was I supposed to? lol You mentioned knit group and that reminded me that I haven't asked Laura for Josh's unit's info yet! I'm sure they will be happy to take you up on the generous offer. I should write myself a note so I don't forget to do that.

He is subbing at same HS P.E. today and it is weight lifting. He sent me this picture from his phone. He said a tall black guy asked if he could hold the huge gold necklace for him and Tom said, "sure". Then he puts it on and the kid wanted to take his picture with it on. Tom told them today he is Mr T. Of course they all got a huge kick out of that.
