Officially, you can replace 3 of your 6 minimum glasses of water with any caffeine free beveage and still have them count as water.
The Week One book for FlexPoints says:
Make it six glasses a day at least.
It's needed for almost every chemical reaction in the body, so replenish yours daily. It also has 0 POINTS. Plain, sparkling, club soda, or unsweetened flavored seltzers all count. Three of your six glasses can be juice, milk, decaffeinated beverages or beverages that don't contain alcohol.

Hi ruby anne. . .cute name. Love it! Anyway, just wanted to caution you on the Crystal Light. I went gun-ho on it last summer when they came out with that Sunrise whatever. Anyway, got terrible headaches and then figured out it was the aspertame in the Crystal Light. You may not experience that, but it's just a caution. I only look for drinks sweetened with Splenda now. Flavored waters should be o.k. or the other things that Joanne listed for you are all good and contribute to your water intake.

Joannie -- I've been waiting for them to WAKE UP and come out with that! I have been buying something similar to Crystal Light. I find it at the 99 cents store. It's Carb Options packaged just like Crystal Light in the little tubs. I've bought the iced tea (reg. & decaf) and Strawberry Kiwi, and Orange Mango flavors. So far those are the only flavors I have found. I think Lipton is putting out a packaged drink sweetened w/Splenda. I'll keep looking for the Crystal Light. Thanks for the info. :)

I think drinking water is an acquired thing. I used to not drink much water, always a diet coke whatever, now i crave it. Plus its a benefit because it helps you feel more full.

Yesterday at a wedding I went to they had a great way of serving water that I am going to try. In a glass jug they had a lot of sliced limes, lemons and strawberries mixed in with the ice water. It gave it a fresh taste and made you want to drink it because it was so pretty! :water1:

Sometimes I put a squeeze of lemon in my water, just to have a change. It taste good and you get your water intake. Plus lemon juice has zero :headover: points!
I find that drinking to many diet sodas makes me crave them. Also, I have to be very careful of they type of diet soda, because I get nasty headaches from aspertame, if it's not Splenda I don't get it. Some people are lucky and don't have that problem.

Try getting a filter (such as PUR) for your tap water. They come in faucet mount or pitcher styles. We have good water where I live, but my sensitive nose/taste buds can pick up the chlorine taste and I like it much better filtered. Also, I drink club soda with a twist of lime when we eat out. Seems like a real "beverage" but still counts as a water.

I have recently found the nestlee flavored water that is WONDERFUL. I love the strawberry. I think I have seen rasberry, lemon and one other one. They are great when you just are craving something a little more than plain water. I used to do crystal light alot but then felt like I was getting to much sweet and this is just a bit lighter tasting. they come in a 6pk of bottles.

I wasn't always a big plain water fan. However, because "it was the thing to do", I just started making sure I got my 8 glasses a day. Now, plain water is truly one of my favorite drinks. I drink more than 8 glasses each day.
I really feel 'off' and 'out of sorts' when I don't get enough. Also, at first, when I increased my water consumption, my trips to bathrooms also increased (more steps gained each day - right??) That has tapered off.
Keep at it - get that water in- It's important.
Have a great day.

Ruby Anne-experiment with bottled water. Some of them taste very clean and much different that tap water. And it's true, the more you drink, the more you will start to crave regular water. It is the essence of life, after all!!!:bcbsalute

I have a pur water filter in my fridge so i can just pour fresh cold water and save money on the bottled stuff. Our water in our apartment isn't the best but i can't tell the difference from bottled and filtered. After reading the inch-away article it was a nice reminder to drink more water. I lost my favorite water bottle and i think maybe i'll go out and buy one again today.
Heres just a lil side story.....I remember in 4th grade my teacher had a glass of water and every time she drank one whoever went to fill it back up would put a check mark on her chalk board for her. We thought it was fun and at the same time she was a great role model for us as kids.

I love our water in our city we are supposed to have the best drinking water in the state of Kansas and I actually believe we do with the cost each month so the water issue is not a problem for me since I love water.
And it's true, the more you drink, the more you will start to crave regular water. It is the essence of life, after all!!!:bcbsalute I've found this to be true. I used to drink lots of sodas and iced tea. I slowly switched to water, and now it's my first choice.

I agree with Em...waters taste different, so you'll need to experiemtn with different brands to see which you like best. I am a HUGE WATER SNOB! LOL I can do Smart Water, but not Aquafina or Arrowhead. I used to like Evian, but that even tastes weird to me now. The best is the one that comes from my purifier. I just keep re-using the bottles!
And a trick with water that works for me is a straw. Now I suck even more! Oh wait......LOL

I enjoy Lemon Juice in my water and for those of us who consume salt Lemon juice helps flush it out of our bodies. I have a 32 ounce drink container and fill it 3/4 full and freeze it and that is my water for work. I am a case manager and am on the road a lot doing home visits and it stays cold for me all day long in the heat. When i am in the office I even fill it back up and yes I do pee a lot that is when I stop at tops or wegmans or a fast food place (not to eat but to pee). I pack a lunch daily.

I saw a program on TV that said the Aquafina brand of bottled water comes from the Detroit River - YUCKY - and people pay for it??? :p

You got me curious re: the comment re: Aquafina coming from detroit river! (Grinning .... I get off on tangents like this sometime!)
I googled it and found a Boston journal that states "Aquafina water does not come from the mountain scene depicted on the label, but from the public water supply in Ayer, Mass., making it essentially the same water that spews from the town's faucets."
An article from MSNBC states "For example, the label design on Aquafina (from Pepsi) gives me the feeling of mountains and snow; implying that Aquafina may be from a mountain spring, rather than bottled at Pepsi plants using processed municipal water. Coke’s Dasani, also one of the leading bottled water brands is processed municipal water with added minerals."
From an Artesian Water bottler. " WHY DO I WANT NICOLET NATURAL INSTEAD OF PURIFIED WATER OR PROCESSED WATER? When a label states that the product is "natural", this means that no minerals or chemicals have been deleted or added to the product. Such is the case with Nicolet Natural. Conversely, retail products like Pepsi's "Aquafina" and Coke's "Dasani" are processed from the same municipal water used to make soft drinks."
So it sounds like only if your Pepsi is bottled in Detroit that your Aquafina will come from the Detroit river!

I noticed that Crystal Lite gives me horrible stomach cramps. I love the Arizona diet ginsing tea and the Arizona diet regular tea in the mix.

I'm with Prov31...if I start drinking anything sweetened, I find I don't want to go back to plain water...I drink approximately 12 glasses daily; being a school bus driver, I was a little apprehensive at first, but your body seems to acclimate to all that sloshing and your kidneys, do too!!

I find I drink more water if I drink bottled water. My DH and DS have always drank bottled water and steer clear of Aquafina, Deerpark and Nestle. They love Springtime and I have to agree it does taste great!!!

I wasn't a great fan of water before WW but now my body craves it. We filter our own water.

When they say "6 glasses of water a day", how big is a glass of water? 8 oz., 10 oz or just whatever you drink it out of? Is there a set amount. I have one of those big 32 oz. insulated cups. I assume I don't need 6 of those a day!:D
It has been really tough for me to get into the habit of drinking water. I am a diet cokeaholic. I still have one of those 8 oz. bottles in the morning, at lunch, and with dinner. But the rest of the day it is water.

I don't know why....but I do not like water! I have always had a problem with not drinking enough water....I find that when I try to drink lots of water I feel sick to my stomach, like I want to throw up. I feel like I drink enough other stuff in the day that I don't need that much water. I once read an article that said it was a myth that coffee and soda were not the same as drinking water because they had caffeine in them. It said drinking two cups of regular coffee is just about the same as drinking two cups of water, even if the coffee is caffeinated.
So, that being said, I drink about 32oz. of coffee a day, plus maybe a diet coke, and yes I will have a glass of water with dinner, and I'll drink some water occasionally throughout the day. But if I sit there and drink an eight oz. glass of water, I feel sick!

That was a great article. Thanks for reposting the link. I am with some of you Buddies that CRAVE water. I used to not like it very much, but drinking it more and more made me LOVE it. It's also my first choice.
The info about Aquafina...all I can say is (wow) NO WONDER I CAN'T STAND IT! That's the one bottled water that I thought tasted like crap. Now I know why. **giggles**
I love the idea of adding sliced lime, lemon and strawberries to pitchers of water. Sounds yummy and very festive.

Sometimes, I suck on a SF hard candy while I drink a large bottle of water. It helps me with the taste when I just can't seem to "get up" for the H2O fix. One hard cardy and I can down 4-5 glasses!!:water1:

I have bought Crystal Light made with Splenda. It's hard to find, but it's out there.
Wow, I didn't know this. I will have to look for it the next time I'm out shopping. :) Thanks!!
I will "force" myself to drink water and I love it when it's ice cold ~ I will drink more. Good luck!!! :)

I guess I'm kind of lucky. my mom never let any of us drink soda when growing up because she said it would rot our teeth. she may have been on to something with that because i'm 19, no cavities, and don't really like/crave soda. ever. :headover:

I have read to determine how much water you should drink daily.... you divide the number of pounds you weigh by two and the answer will be the total number of ounces you need to drink. It is a challenge some days but I have found it is valuable for weight loss. But we really need to incorporate it in our daily lives when not trying to lose weight. Karen :water1:

I love drinking plain water. My husband likes drinking Fruit2O, but I find it to be a little too sweet. So I will fill a glass 1/3 to 1/2 with the Fruit2O, and fill the rest with regular water. That way I get the flavor but it is not too strong.
I also water down Apple and Orange Juice, usually 2/3 to 3/4 juice and the rest water.
