Well buddies, it has been exactly 7 days since my last puff. I feel my life is finally getting back to normal. I feel good again, finished with the withdrawl side effects, the binge tendencies have stopped and life is good. I still have about 2 or 3 strong cravings every day, but the nicorette gum is helping with that. The first 2 to 3 days were REALLY rough, but now it's A-OK, as long as I don't give into those cravings. Here's to next week being another smoke-free!

Your doing great. Just remember, the nico demon can sneak up on you when your are off guard. Don't let him win. Don't take that first puff. We are all so proud of you.

Keep the quit,
Clara

Hi lgood22573

I am right there with you!! Just take it one day at a time. The things that keep me going is telling myself that it's not worth giving up 7 days for a smoke and have to start all over, and second, that I will not let something take control over my life anymore. It helps to that I think about those bastards getting rich off me killing myself and then they have the nerve to come out and say its not addicting!!!!:rage: :rage:

I am on day 9- and today I had REALLY strong cravings. I have no idea why. I started imagining smoking and all the things I loved about it. And then it hit me, I really didn't love it and every single time I smoked I would think about how I need to stop. But shew- it was a close one. I was imagining in a "glorified" way if that makes any sense at all.

Great job on not smoking for one week. Keep going and 7 days becomes a month and then a year.

Today is my 7 year anniversary of not smoking.

You can do it.

Hello,
I thought I would join in on this thread. Today marks my fourth smoke-free day. Yesterday was tough, I almost had "just one puff", but at the last second decided that "just one puff" was got me back to smoking after being smoke-free for almost 14 months.
Today is better and I am optomistic that each day will get better.
Despite the odd craving, I'm doing well.
Congrats to those of you who are smoke-free.

Diamond... so glad that you decided to join this group. I know how hard it is to quit. That is why I keep from taking that one puff. After smoking 41 years it would be easy to go back to it. Still don't know what made me quit. I just knew it was time. I don't think I could be that strong again, so I don't want to take a chance.

Hope you will soon be free of the addiction.

Lisa ~ Congrats on your one week anniversary!!

Karen ~ Congrats on your 4 days!!

I know this is hard, just take it one day at a time girls, you are doing great!! Just keep in your mind that you are done with this and don't give in! I HAVE given in to those cravings recently and I just felt icky when I smoked...it's NOT worth it! (I got all light headed and had to go lay down for a few hours...totally my own fault LOL)

Clara and Tonya... thank you!!
Today is MUCH better and I KNOW that I will never take another puff.
The cravings come, but they are just a passing thought.
Thanks again.
Smoke-free for five days and counting!
Already I feel the benefits.
Thank God I quit... it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Karen,
That is wonderful. I am on day 3 of being totally smoke free. THis has been hard. Dh is not helping at all. He was "supposed" to quit on Monday morning. I actually started Sunday night at 4pm. (had company over the weekend and it made it harder to start earlier) I told him when he lite up in the basement I am a little on edge and my tendency for murder was very strong..and I strongly suggest he didn't do that right now in front of me. Last night was a little easier and I actually didn't notice when he did light up.(he doesn't learn very easy) He is mad because I have a stronger will power than he does so in a way I think he is trying to make me fail which just makes me want to stay smoke free more. I have been a little more snacky than unusal so I have been eating extra veggies and fruit. A really good craving killer has been believe it or not hot salsa with some broken up light chips. (1/2 serving)
I can't chew gum or use the patches. So I am doing this truely cold turkey.

I know we can do this.

I too gave in to a craving after being 14 months free of smoke. That is why I am now on my second (and last) quit.
You can do this, even if your hubby does smoke. Mine smoked all the way through and was quite rude and insensitive to my quit/cravings.
Today is Day 10 for me and I feel great!!! So much energy, so full of life, and my colour is improving.
Have a great day!

Ladies I know you both can do this. If you want it bad enough, you will succeed. Stay focused and positive.

Hugs,

Howdy,
I am still smoke free (day 6) and it is getting easier! DH is a little better but not much. LOL He feels the need to smoke everywhere around me and I feel the need to try to stay away from him. I am really doing well on both the smoking and being OP. Although exercise could of been better towards the end of my week I think I will have a loss this week. I weight in this morning.

Karen: How are you doing?

Karen and Lisa- girls you are doing so great! I can't imagine if my hubby was a smoker when I was trying to quit. That is sheer willpower- you go girls! You can do it- it just keeps getting easier every week. I am: 1 month 2 weeks 4 days and 26 minutes of being smoke free. Yeah hoo! My weight loss is going well, the first few weeks were a struggle and a small gain, but I jumped right back in and started taking it off and then some. Great plans on the healthy snacking!

Lisa,
I did have a loss yesterday of 2.2lbs..YIPPEEE for me. LOL Dh broke down last night and bought a carton of smokes..told him that is fine..I can't make him quit..I only can suggest and he honestly has to be ready. It really doesn't bother me most of the time. Cravings were bad yesterday but I think it was more from boredom than anything. We rearranged the furniture in our room and I didn't have anything to do when we took a break. LOL I am adjusting well and today at 4pm is 7 days for me.

Congradulations to yo all, I quit smoking in Febuary of this year. I had gotten a really bad cold and didn't smoke while I was sick and after I got better I never picked it back up. After I quit I hacked up so much nasty stuff. I am so happy that I quit, I smell things better, I taste things better, and it has diffenatly made exercise easier. My bf makes the joke that I am just looking for trouble because I quit smoking, drinking pop, and joined ww all in the same year. lol . You can do it Ladies don't give up!
