Calling all Veggies...Calling all veggies!

I would love to start a group that is vegetarian to chat daily and help keep each other motivated on weight watchers! I've been bouncing around from board to board and haven't found a perfect fit yet. I know alot of groups are already established and some find it hard to work their way in...so why not jump into something new!! So join me on the veggie lovers board because that's where I know I belong.

My name is Jen I'm 26 and I've been complete vegetarian for 7 months now. I haven't had beef or pork in 8 years but just recently decided to give up chicken and turkey for a vegetarian life style. I love it. It is defintly something I am proud of. I think it has defintly helped me to a healthier eating mentality. I've been doing weight watchers for 7 weeks now and am doing good. I have a tendency to use all of my flexies and I'm not really working out so I could be doing better.

So I'm hoping that there are other vegetarians like me who are looking for some support and advice!

Hello Jen :)

I belong to another group, but I'd be willing to join this one as well! You can never have too many friends, lol.

I'm Jen as well (Jenny to my friends and these boards), 22 years old. I've been veggie for 10 years (family is also veggie) and vegan for 4.5 I love the way I feel and couldn't imagine living any other way.

I know we have a few other veggie girls here, so hopefully they'll join as well. Thanks for starting this up!

Bump!

I'm a veggie! There is a very cool vegetarian group on the main Weight Watcher board. Unfortunately I can't stand the interface they use on that bulletin board. Threads and such are listed very strangely, and you can't even search! No offense to the nice ladies, but I found myself unable to keep up over there.

I'd love to have a veggie group, just like some of the others!

Hey veggie girls! (and guys, if you are out there! I'm sure we want to include you gentlemen as well):)

I have been vegetarian for more than 10 years (since HS) and was vegan for about 4 years of that. I have been on WW for the past 9 months, and have been at Lifetime for about 2 months. I lost about 20 pounds, and am still finding the right balance for maintaining my weight. I also served on the board for a vegetarian cooperative in college, as both the nutritional committee chair and the operating committee chair, so I may be able to offer some helpful info to people. Actually, I am sure everyone have something they add! Favorite snacks? Struggles with combining being veggie with being on WW...

Hello. My name is Sarah and I have been a BCB'er for a long time. I am just getting back OP after having had DD #2. I waited until I was through breast feeding to go back to vegetarianism. I was vegetarian for a year when I got pregnant, but I went back to eating meat after waking up several mornings in a row with a soaking wet pillow after having drooled while I dreamt about chicken wings all night. I knew that I was not getting enough protein, and I had to make sure that my baby developped properly, so I ate meat. But, I am back to no meat and no dairy (but I do still eat eggs). I post regularly on the T20s forum ( a great place to be!! ) and I look forward to getting to know all of you!!

Sarah.

Hi my name is Jason, obviously I'm a male, but I was looking for a weight watchers discussion group for vegetarians, and you all seemed so like minded. I have been vegetarian for almost 15 years, and am on the verge of becoming vegan.

Hi Veggie Buddies,

I'm working on becoming vegetarian and wanted to check in. I don't eat very much meat now so the transition should be fairly easy. Does anyone have ideas to make this board a little more active?

Jason, welcome to BCB. Your username made me laugh. :bcbsalute

Hi Buddies,

I have been eyeing this board for sometime now, but there is never any action. I am a veggie who sometimes dabbles in meat.

I have been OP for almost a month now and so far have lost 5 lbs. Wohooo!

I'll have to post more on this board to spice things up a little.

Jenny

Hey everyone,

My name is Nickie. New to this board and would love to join in and make some new friends. I was actually looking for something like this. I am a veggie (have been for 7 months or so) and decided to give up all meat cold turkey. It has truly helped me in making better decisions especially when going out to eat plus i feel so much healthier!! I would love to share menu ideas and recipes to get some ideas to help stay OP!

Hey veggie girls! And Jason!
I am becoming a vegatarian...didn't eat meat this summer for about 2 months and felt great, lost weight, etc, but found that my running was suffering. Currently I eat a bit of chicken here and there simply to get the protein and calories in for my runs. I am experimenting with meat substitutes and new recipes and do foresee myself being 100% in the future. I have had IBS for years and not eating meat is the only thing that has helped me keep it under control.

We should start a daily...is anyone interested?

Maybe we should, LOL. I'm not sure exactly what I would talk about, but when prompted I can gab your ears off!

I'd be interested in a daily thread and, especially, menu posting! (I agree about the Veggie board on WW -- great people, terrible interface!) I'm a lapsed vegetarian who's just restarted WW and has been thinking of restarting veggy-ing. This might be the kick I need! I'm finishing up unmentionable items this week but hope to be green again starting Sunday.

I Just Joined Weight Watchers Last Week. Not For The First Time, But Hopefully This Is The Time I Lose And Keep It Off. I Have Been Vegetarian For About 7 Years. I Would Love To Go Vegan One Day..........as It Is, I Don't Drink Milk Or Eat Eggs, Unless They Are Hidden In Something. I Can't Drink/eat Them Plain. I Use Vegan Butter And Don't Use Much Cheese.........right Now Though, I Think I Need To Focus On Losing Weight, Rather Than Going Vegan. My Husband And 2 Boys (ages 11 And 3) Are All Vegetarian As Well. They Have Only Been Veggie For Just Over A Year..................i Have About 70 Pounds To Lose And It Seems Impossible. Looking Forward To Learning From All Of You.........

I'd be up for a daily menu thread at the least. I worry that a "daily" wouldn't get too much posting, but I'd be willing to try that out too. Basically, I'd love to talk with y'all! :bcbsalute

Hi!
I just registered today on this site and until now have never been on a message board...but I had to add something in to this "thread". I'd love to check back often to know how other veggie ww are doing. I've been veg (lacto-ovo) for about 10 yrs. I'm finding some products I really like that work great with the program and doing really well. Last time I did ww was over 10 yrs ago so most of my old recipes involve chicken and I'd love to start accumulating new veg ones. I'm up for some new recipes! Count me in!

Hi everyone. I've been on BCB for 10 months or so now, and after some soul searching the past few weeks and some interesting reading, i'm going veggie. I didnt eat much meat before anyways, so my only challenge is using substitutes for meals that I've always used meat in,(I'm working on aquiring a taste for tofu and seitan) and finding new foods hat meet nutritional needs. I'm on day 3 of really focusing on being veggie, and my family is all for it. We have been trying out some really awesome recipes, and I havent felt this great about a choice i've made in a whle, both for health and ethical reasons. i look forward to talking with you all!!

Hi Veggies,

I am a veggie, almost vegan. I have been vegetarian for about twenty plus years (since I was ten). My family is mostly veggie too.

I would love to post a regular thread about WW progress.... what do you think?

Recipes, trials and tribulations, exercise, etc.

I lost about 25 lbs on WW, and am right at the top of my weight range for my age. I wouldn't mind losing a few more, but I am pretty muscular, so I don't mind being at the high point either.

Anyhow... if you would like perhaps I will put up a daily and see who answers.

I eat a lot of beans, grains, soy products like tofu, tempeh and soymilk. I tried CORE, but like my sweets, and tortillas here and there, so went back to Flex.

I also do a lot of exercise to keep the lbs. off.
