don't worry yourself too much yet, being worried can actually cause all those changes that you're talking about. it can even make your period late. If you are a day late for your period buy a home pregnancy test. EPT is a good one, i've heard from friends. also keep in mind that sore breasts can be a symptom of PMS.

for future reference, always remember that if you are putting anything foreign into your body, antibiotics, it may interact with BCP. also, some vitamins will too. call your doctor or you pharmacy when you need to take something.
Hope that helps!

when you went to you dr for the strep did they ask if you were on any other medication? If you told them you were on BC then they should have warned you that the effects of the BC can be altered by the antibiotics. i'm not trying to scare you or anything..but you should always tell your dr all the medications you're on because you never know how one will react with the other. If you're really concerned, call them and explain the situation. They should be able to tell you if you've got a reason to worry and how soon you can check to see if the BC did fail. Best of luck to you!

Ah, I feel your pain. I'm very surprised there was no warning sticker on your antibiotics telling you they interfere with the pill. Or no literature on it in with your little prescription bag from the pharmacy.

I'd call the doc if you're really panicked. Keep in mind that there is only a very small window each month during which a woman can get pregnant. Usually a period of about 3 days which happens about 9 days after your period, I believe. When you're on the pill, it works two ways. The first is it keeps you from ovulating, the second is that it makes your uterine lining unfriendly to fertilized eggs looking for a home. So it's not all THAT easy to get pregnant, especially if you're on the pill. I don't know for sure, but I imagine the antibiotics probably don't totally nullify the pill, just compromise it. Certainly folks have ended up pregnant due to antibiotics, but they were probably pretty darn unlucky statistics-wise.

Keep in mind that there are those new OTC pregnancy tests out there that you can use *before* your missed period. A few days before, I think? So you won't have to wait all the way until your period is late to make sure you're okay.

Planned Parenthood and the World Health Organization say that is a bunch of hooey. Companies of antibiotic makers make that disclaimer to keep from liability suits. I would not fret much about it. My doctor just gave me ABs to clear up strep and told me this.

Also, your window for pregnancy is only about 24 hours, but sperm can live a few days.
