Our meeting was also about resistance training. But we had a woman there that lost 100 pounds! She made lifetime and lost 94 pounds 20 months ago. She wanted to loose 100. It took her twenty months to lose 6 pounds, But she never gave up! She had lost 100 pounds in 73 and then went through a lot. A preganacy, she lost 3 children, survived breast cancer and some other ilnesses. I do not know exactly how she lost the children or what the other ilnesses were. She did not go into a whole lot of detail. She finally said that if god can heal the inside she can heal the outside. What an inspiration!

That is motivating. It is always great to see people who preserve and are successful. Our meeting was also about resistence training but my leader did it really quickly so that she could give me my lifetime key and have me try and inspire people with my story. But your women has be through a lot and kept on the journey and made it. Thanks for sharing.

We had the same meeting. There was a list of questions on the board and we had to try and write down the answers and then the leader went over them.
We were told - by a member (not by the leader) - that Curves is going to have a special in March - bring in a bag of groceries for the poor and that will be your joining fee. I was thinking I might check it out - try it for say a couple mos. It's about $40 a month here I think. I wonder if they would give a tour first?
That woman is a great motivator, considering all she has gone through.
We had one woman reach 100 lb. loss in Dec. and another in Jan. One lost it I know in about a year. We also had one reach goal with a 60 some lb. loss and one with a 30 lb. loss. All great for motivation!!

I am a member of curves. I like it alright. I go two times per week for the strenght training, but my major exercise/stress reducer is walking 4 miles everyday!

I liked going to Curves. However, I dropped it because I wasn't seeing any results in either weight or measurements. I know several people say that they go and love it, but see very little results. I've had so much better success with a few weeks of WATP-ing versus basically no results doing six months of Curves.
Just my opinion about Curves.

Thanks for the comments. I probably won't join. It's just too pricey as I'm already paying for WW. Some time I think I'll buy a walker type bike for myself, which would be great for the winter weather. Walking is hard in the snow. I checked out a few places because they will be on sale, but guess I'm a bit late in looking now. Couldn't really find any still on sale. Another month (Mar.) and it will be good walking weather I hope.

Hi- I was a member of Curves- but did not see the results I wanted to. However, the Total Gym is an awesome piece of exercise equipment- it does LOTS of resistance exercises. The results are quick! (They were for me at least)

WATP is Walk Away the Pounds. Its a series of in home walking videos some of which include resistance training. They are made by Leslie Sansone. Check out the WW & Exercise forum for the weekly checking and more info.

To backontrack05, is the Total Gym the one that Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley endorse? I've been looking at those and Bowflex. Both seem a bit pricey. But I live out in the country, and it would take me at least 40 minutes to get to the nearest gym. So, I may have to cough up the $$. I'd appreciate any info you have. Thanks!

Just a reminder that "resistance training" can be as simple as pushing your own weight agaist a wall, lifting laundry detergent tubs (full), and doing seated "tricep dips". No need to spend alot of money on fancy equipment, unless it's going to motivate you to do it...
I pay for yoga, and a gym membership because I don't skip when I know I've paid for it in advance.

What's motivating me is the way I feel when I eat right. I'm not bloated or starving, I'm not having highs and lows, going from starving to stuffed, then two hours later feeling very tired. I think eating the right foods, fruits and veggies and less volume and restircitng the foods that make me bloat have inspired me to eat healthy. I feel good. Just thinking back to how I feel after eating an all you can eat Chinese buffet meal inspires me to keep on track. Also inspiring is looking down at my belly which is finally flatening out.:p
