Ok.. so it literally translates to "FAT Tuesday." But we need not think of it as a day to overindulge or get fat. Instead we should use it as a day to reflect on all the fat we've gotten rid of (because we didn't lose it and never wa nt to find it again). Let's use Mardi Gras to celebrate the fat we've banished from our bodies, never to return again!

The name of this day, in Swedish, is also FAT TUESDAY. We usually celebrate it with wheat buns stuffed with marzipane (sp?) and topped with whipped cream. I used to love them, but today, I felt sick just looking at one! No more FAT days for me. No matter what day of the week it is!!! LOL!

But happy Mardi Gras to all!

I would just like to let you all know that our "Celebration Committee" at work brought in all kinds of different Paczkis today and I have not even gone into the kitchen to even look at them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will not be a victim of Fat Tuesday!!!!!!!!!

Happy Mardi Gras to all!
Small victory for me - been looking at a king cake all morning and haven't touched it! It's usually one of my favorites, as is anything else that reminds me of New Orleans!
Have a good Fat-Free Tuesday everyone!!

Hi all.........jumping in here too..........I was born and raised in New Orleans, so Mardi Gras brings many memories to me. When I was little, we even rode the floats on Mardi Gras day for a few years. And yes, Kathleen, I remember King Cakes well. The best ones were from Gambinos, a bakery which was owned as I found out later, by "the family". if ya know what I mean????

Anyway............funny story: When I was like 4, my parents took us to DisneyWorld. We stayed for the parade that night, and sitting on the side of the street while Mickey and friends made their way down the road, I started to scream: THROW ME SOMETHING MISTER!!!! hee hee! I was disappointed to find out that they weren't throwing anything!
