View Full Version : Flex Points: How Do You Use Them?

Hi all,

I am doing the WW Flex Points Plan, and I am curious to hear from others about how you use your Flex Points over the course of a week?

Do you use:

-None of them
-A couple daily
-More on one day, none on others
-Etc.

And why? What has worked for you?

I generally eat 1-2 points over my target daily, but I used about 8 Flex Points on one day this week, so I am trying to stay at my target for the remainder of the week and see what happens.

I am wondering if it will affect my weight differently?

I use about up to 5 of my flex points a day and the remainder on Saturday when I go out to eat! I usually end up eating about 20-25 on Saturday.

I try to use them only for "emergencies" during the week. I like to save mine for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On the weekend I treat myself to things like doughnuts for breakfast with my kids, ice cream when we go out, a meal out, etc. I use them to keep me from being deprived. And I use all of them every week.

I believe that eating at a higher point range will allow you to maintain at a higher range once you meet goal. It has to to with keeping your metabolism.

Everyone seems to work the program a little differently depending on what works for them. I've heard people say that they wouldn't loose if they ate all of their flex points. I'm glad that's not the case for me because I would feel SO deprived (and sometimes hungry) without my flex points.

I'm one of those people who's metabolism needs the FPs or I won't lose... so I use mine, but I generally use all of them up in the first couple days of the week, sort of allowing for "cheat days"... because the later in the week I use them, the less I lose... strange, but it's what I've discovered!!! The first day of my new week is generally when DBF and I will go out to eat, if we do at all!! :headover:

Granted I'm a newbie...this is only week 4 for me, but I've never used any of the flex points and my weight loss has averaged around 4 lbs each week. I know that is going to come to a screeching halt soon, but so far-so good! I haven't felt deprived - ever. I've never had a sweet tooth...bread is my weakness. But I've switched to 1 pt light bread & buns and to 1 pt english muffins instead of bagels and my mind is ok with that!

Hi Christine,
I have only started back this week but have toyed with the plan in the past and I find that I have to stagger my points or my body just doesn't want to move. So if there's a meal I really like, I'll eat a little more and use flex points, or save them for the weekend with my kids. This week, with it being pancake Tuesday, I used a bunch up but then went right back to my normal points. Sunday will be my WI day at home, and when I have my kids, we usually have a big meal, etc., on that day so then I an use a little up. And there are times that I don't use any at all. Just depends on the week and what's going on.

I try not to use my flex points, but if I need something sweet at the end of the day - I use them. I'd like to save them for the weekend, but since I weigh in on Tuesdays, I try to stick to the plan more on the weekends.

I use most of mine on Fridays and Saturdays.. I rarely have any left at the end of the week..and I use my AP's..I don't want my body getting used to small amounts of food..for if I ever hit goal
