View Full Version : Meeting Canceled!

After week one, my scale at home shows I lost 5 lbs, but I went to weigh in last night, and the meeting was canceled because there was no heat in the building. And I skipped lunch just for the weigh in! There was just a sign on the door. Very disappointing. :( I found another meeting today at noon in a city that's a 30-minute drive away, so I'll go to that one.

I have been weighing myself every single morning and after day 2, I haven't lost one more lb. than the initial 5. I've been enjoying those WW treats, the muffins, ice cream, etc. and I wonder if I should limit that stuff and lean more Atkins-like with my points. But I've got a bad sweet tooth... Any suggestions?

Are you hitting all the 8 good health guidelines food-wise before spending points on the treats? Getting in your dairy servings? Two teaspoons of oil daily? Five fruits and vegetables and good portions of protein?

The beauty of Flex is being able to eat anything you like while counting points. However, WW's guidelines are there for a reason, to help you get the nourishment your body needs. I'm not suggesting you're not following those, merely asking.

Far as "lean more Atkins-like with my points", WW has a sheet for eating higher protein and a sheet for those that like more carbohydrates. You can ask for that at your meeting if they don't have them lying around on a table. It's the "Quick and Easy Guide", has protein on one side, carbs on the other.

As long as you can handle the fluctuations of the scales weighing yourself daily, go ahead. :) If not, if it makes you crazy, riles you to the point of wanting to binge, it's best to stay off of them and be weighed just once a week at your meeting.

I just went and looked in my "Getting Started" book for all those guidelines, which I had forgotten about, and I've been doing all of those except the vitamin supplement. Do you think Flintstones vitamins count? :) Any recommendations for a good vitamin supplement?

Oh yeah, Flintstones count. Yummy :) Any decent multi-vitamin will work.

You also realize that you most likely won't lose 5 lbs. every week, right? 99.9% of us lose a lot the first 1-4 weeks and then slow down to 1-2 lbs. per week. (at first, since you are eating less carbs, you body also drops the water that carbs hold in). There are toxins stored in fat, and your liver has to process those as you lose the weight. Losing too much per week strains the liver. NOT WORTH DOING!. So just keep on doing what you're doing and you WILL get to goal. Sorry you had to drive in the cold. I think they should have let everyone weigh in and had a meeting with everyone wearing their coats. (of course I live in Houston and have forgotten what really cold is). Good luck and keep on through the frustration!

Don't let yourself get addicted to the scale!!!! It will only frustrate you as the weeks go on. Challenge yourself to only allow yourself to weigh in at the meetings. Hide your home scale from yourself if you have to. I have. Also don't skip meals for the scale. At least have a healthy snack before. Otherwise it won't show a true weight loss. I eat dinner and run out the door to my meeting and the true weight loss is then reflected because I do the same thing every week.Stay OP and you will lose It works;)and... relax!

Well, I drove to that far away meeting, got lost, had to call my husband for directions, but finally found it. I like that leader better, I think. of course, it's only week one, but I found out two things at that meeting. Weight Watchers REALLY works, and my scale might not. I lost 8.5 lbs this week! Wow!:headover:

Congrats. Debby - :)

Just don't get hung up on the scale as you won't lose that amount every week, but I'm sure you know that already.

Still, that's a great start and gives you a real boost!!!!

I advocate the idea of "getting the most food for the least points" that's why I'm not real big on "treats". I don't eat a lot of bars, i.e. protein/WW./any of them. It's the old idea that it's better to eat an orange if you are hungry than drink the juice - you get filled up better. Some treats are good though too. How about some sugar free apple sauce with cinnamon in it and a rice cake for a snack? A piece of fruit - fruit is sweet. Fat free yogurt with some frozen blueberries.

Thanks, Ashlee, to be realistic, I know the weight loss will slow down, but it sure is a fun way to start! I had several fruit/vegetable slots to fill this evening, so I fixed a big bowl of 3 servings of frozen fruit, which I thawed in the microwave for a little bit, and sprinkled Splenda over. I was so stuffed when I finished, and it was so yummy for only 3 points! I love this Weight Watcher diet, could happily eat this way for life!:D

Debby - Way to go! I lost 6.5 my first week, and although I knew it was mostly water, etc., it really boosted my spirits, and kept me going. It's nice to have a good weigh-in the first couple of weeks. Really spurs you on.

I always tried to eat fairly light the day before WI and stay away from the salt (no processed foods that day if I could help it), and I always eat light breakfasts and lunches anyway, so that was my routine prior to WI. I also tried not to drink too much water after noon on WI day (I read that on here somewhere). Whatever works. They say not to be a slave to the scale, but I figured it was all part of the game. I am more a slave to how my clothes fit, but I also love the scale!

Keep up the good work!
