I blew it! I felt so defeated Christmas Eve, Eve that I gave up and am now trying to get back on track. The reason I blew it....

At the Dec 16 at our normal meeting, I specifically asked if we would be having a meeting on Dec 23. The new leader replied, "Yes, of course!"

I had last minute shopping to do, but was determined to not miss my third meeting. I was doing well, I had lost 5.6 in the first two weeks!

Long story short---I went to the meeting place to find it locked up with no one around. No note on the door or anything!

I felt as though my buddies there let me down, they weren't there for me!

Is there some kind of policy in regards to cancelling a meeting? The weather wasn't bad or any other reason to cancel.

cski. It's too bad that you felt so let down. I don't know the policy on cancelled meetings. When you've been going to meetings longer, and learn more of the WW tools for living, you will be better able to deal with this kind of disappointment. 5.6 pounds in two weeks is awesome, you should pat yourself on the back. You know WW works. Now it's up to you to get back OP. Good luck to you.

Ok, you were disappointed. Understandable. But you were down 5.6 lbs. so, things didn't go your way, you threw in the towel??? Maybe you need to think about why you joined WW, and what your personal goal is.. Yes, support and encouragement is very helpful, but only me can lose weight for me! I have to work my program for me, and count my points, journal, and drink my water. No one at my meeting can do any of this for me. Just a thought.
Good Luck

Thanks for the encouragement jeremysmom!

As for angelhugs, I didn't throw in the towel! I said, "I blew it!" I know that I am doing this for me and I am in control! I didn't blame my leader or anyone else! I wasn't looking for your sympathy, just for info on cancelled meetings. I was feeling good after coming off two great weeks and wanted to continue the momentum through Christmas week, you know a little support! By the way, support is the whole reason for meetings and this forum.

Just for the record, I don't think I will post a loss this week. But I haven't given up! :)

Cheryl~ Glad to hear you haven't thrown in the towel. You're going to be so glad that you stuck with it. I do WW at home and I'm usually at the WW @ home board, but whenever you need a buddy, stop on by...or feel free to PM me. :strong: Be strong, buddy!!! You can do this!!

Cheryl,

Here in the Philadelphia area, if the meeting is cancelled because of a holiday, you don't get charged for the week. If you want to go to a meeting on another day to keep your momentum going, you have to pay for it. If you just skip the holiday and come to your regular meeting the following week, there's no charge for the day they were closed. This also applies for weather cancellations, though the weather has to be REALLY bad for them to close.

This doesn't explain why you didn't have a meeting on the 23rd; I would think they would be open. In fact, I weighed in on Thursday evening myself.

I think you'll have to talk to your meeting leader to find out what's going on, and maybe get a number to call when in doubt.

Keep sticking with it--

Dawn

Thanks for all the help everyone. I went to my meeting on Thursday night (had a gain). The leader explained that she thought the weather was bad up our way. Our leader lives at least 45 minutes away. In the snow belt, that's a long way! I wish that someone locally would have posted a sign. Our new leader is nice and all--just wish she lived closer. We are a very small town and everyone that attends is from town. How does one become a leader?? Maybe we can convince someone local to do it!

If you call the 800 number on the back of all your books, they should be able to tell you if the meeting is closed. You should call about two hours before the meeting and they should be able to tell you. Also, if the weather is bad and everything in your area is being cancelled, we usually close the meeting. Hope this helps. tommie
