We had a substitute leader tonight. As she weighed me and noted my loss, she said, " So the scale was good to you this week." I said, "No, I was good to myself and the scale represents that." Then I walked out to the meeting area, and she had 2 dessert recipes on the board, both for 4 pts each. I thought to myself that I did not need to stay tonight, so I left with my 0.8 lb weight loss.
Can't wait until next week.
Does anyone know what the topic for tonight is besides desserts?

We've been concentrating on WW's Tools Of Living. This meeting we discussing "Asserting". Figuring out ways to get-our-needs-met while dining out, eating at parties/work/etc. Lots of good ideas...For instance, call ahead and ask what's being served at a party. "May I bring something?" Tell people what you need! When eating out, grill the server: "How is that prepared? May I substitute black beans for mashed potatoes? Could you ask the chef to not salt the fish, and please use only enough oil to flip the fish in the pan~" Tell people at your table: "I'm going to need to have a salad before the main course~"
I stay at my meetings. I figure people need to have some of my "Lifetime" experiences shared. The leader and I have a lot in common...I can back her up, or she can back me up! :D
One newbie is having difficulty watching TV at night...Well, she's watching THE FOOD CHANNEL! The leader put her regular cookbooks away when she began WWs. She uses light recipes only (except for an occasional dish during the holidays, or a "treat"). I do the same~ :bcbsalute

We talked about assertiveness, too. I mostly don't like my At Work leader that well (but the At Work meetings are convenient and subsidized), but she did say one thing this week that I hadn't ever thought about, that I thought was useful. The food-pushers are often people who want to nurture you/give you something. When Mr. or Ms. Food Pusher insistently offers you a high-points item that you don't choose to eat, try saying something like, "Oh, it looks delicious, but, no thanks -- but I'd really love another glass of ice water/a diet soda/whatever-seems-appropriate." That way you meet your own needs, and also Food Pusher's need to nurture. The psychology of this seems right to me, and I think I'll try it the next time this situation comes up.

That's a great line to use. I'm going to try it on Christmas day when we go to Sister Mrs Food Pusher for dinner.

Nothing to worry about, Dgjp! :)
Sounds like you had a great meeting!
I really liked this Monday's meeting, too! My leader is doing Core, AND she's a fantastic cook. When she mentioned "curry", one member was completely confused. She'd never heard of it. Her family doesn't like foods that contain "unknown" ingredients, or "too many" ingredients.
We had the gamut. From my leader who has to do "quantity cooking" on the week-ends (two crockpots going, a chicken in the oven, stockpots full, etc.) to a person who hates-to-cook and has no ideas what to do (which was what this meeting was about, I think~) :bcbsalute :D
