Awhile back, maybe during the summer, there was a recipe for Haystacks going around.
Anyone have it handy? I have the cereal and the chocolate chips. I just forgot what to do with them!:crazy:

Oh Linda! Good idea! I have both too. The last time I made them I believe I just melted a bag of the choc. chips and mixed in a bag of the Fiber One then dropped them by a spoon onto wax paper and put them in the fridge.
Aw crud, I have All Bran not Fiber One.:sobbing: Oh well.. have one for me!

Hi Linda,
All you do is melt the chips (12 punce bag) and mix in one sleeve of the Fiber one. Drop it on a cookie sheet (I line with waxpaper) and chill or freeze.
Make 26 haystacks and they are 1 point each.

I've only ever kept them in a tupperware in the fridge. I was afraid they would melt. If you leave them out let me know if they melt or not so I don't have to use the fridge if I don't need to.

I think I'll just keep a few out to see if they go "mush" on me and the rest in the fridge. I'll let you know!

I normally just keep them in the freezer. They last longer that way;) out of sight, out of mind:rolleyes: :D

These things are good!!!!
I actually got more than 26 out of my batch but I'm still counting them as 1 pt each.
Chris....they do get kinda "soft" out of the fridge. So that answers that question!
I have to warn DS about the effects of too much fiber! He'll love these and think he can just pop 'em down! :) :)

What is a sleeve of Fiber one?

Fiber One cereal comes in a box that has two seperate "sleeves" or bags of the cereal inside. You just use one of them to make the haystacks. :D

And they're really good. Hummmm.....I still might have an extra "sleeve" in the pantry.

These sound great. I know I will have to try these over spring break. I know I will have to put them in the freezer. Chocolate can be a red light food if it is in my sight:)

*********WARNING**********
Make sure you DO NOT eat to many of these at one time (or in a short period of time).
No, it is not the points, it is the FIBER!!!!!!!
If you do, you will regret it :ugh: and never forget to eat only a couple in a day. :D

Oh yeah.....lots of fiber in these goodies!!!

OK....so this is a dangerous thread for me. Why did y'all haul it back out of the dust bin? :D :D :D :D :D
I ALWAYS have Fiber One around. I mix it with other cereals to increase the fiber. I NEED that fiber, if ya know what I mean.
BUT......I LOVE chocolate, and putting the two together could (no, WOULD)be a bad thing for me. I think I might easily eat all 26 of them and die happy (if somewhat crampy)
I think I had better forget that I saw this thread!!!!!

I am going to try them next week. LOL I can't resist! I am thinking of freezing them in those little serving size ziplocks though so I won't be tempted to grab more than I need. I think the fiber would do me good and I KNOW the chocolate would. LOL

You know Sue I thought the same thing. I was really afraid that I'd eat all in one seating. :embarrass But I didn't. I will admitt that I would eat maybe 3. But I always have points left in the evenings for sweets and they might as well be "healthier" ones!

Sue,
I have a chocolate problem too but if I tried to eat all of these at once my mouth would be torn up from all the crunchy cereal, plus you'd poo out anything you ate anyway! LOL! Eww!
I just don't see how it would be possible but YOU know YOU better than we do:buddysmoo

Ok, I made these and they are indeed Y_U_M_M_Y!
I re-figured the points with the 12 oz bag of c.chips that I used and the sleeve of Fiber One. (BTW, I ended up with 30 Haystacks).
One Haystack was only 1 point, because although it had 90 calories, it had 7 gms of fiber and 4 gms of fat, but when I calculated 2 Haystacks, it jumped all the way up to 4 points......because of the fiber cap.
So I would warn buddies to be careful about eating more.....both because of the potential for GI distress and the increased points.
But......I am still happy to have these around. I love something sweet after dinner and this will definitely work for me.
Thanks.

I made these last night also and they were great! I was even thinking that adding actualy peanut butter to the chocolate would also make them very tasty, but of course would also increase the points. I like them with just the chocolate too though!

I assume for this recipe the 12 oz chocolate chips are whatever chips I grab first? That is, not a special, available in only store on the planet, low fat, no sugar, safe for eating chocolate (as if)?

Just the standard run of the mill chocolate chips like you'd use for cookies.
