View Full Version : peeing like crazy!
Anyone else find that they are spending a ton of time in the washroom? I am drinking so much and I am up half the night because of it! Isn't our bodies supposed to absorb this stuff!?! Why do we lose water when we lose weight?

It's one of those weird things like with fat. If you don't get the right amount of fat in your diet you will have problems too.
We all have "potty" issues and eventually they won't be as bad, or maybe we just get use to it?? What I try to do is drink the majority of my water early in the day so I'm not up all night going in and out of the bathroom. The benefits of drinking that much water definately outweigh the down part of it.

I like to space my water out during the day. But I stop at least about 4 hours before I go to bed to make sure I'm not up and down all night (or in my case since I work nights..all day). There may be times I have to get up once, but I can live with that.

Yals,
I start drinking water as soon as I get up (16oz). That way I can make a trip to the bathroom before I go out anywhere. That really helps. I also drink my last 16 oz at dinner so that I do not have to get up at night. I think over time you will probably be able to figure the way it works best for you.
It may also help if you eliminate some of the other liquids for a while until you figure out what works best for you. Keep up with the water though the best you can. It is important!

That is a very common problem with drinking so much water! I read in my Runners World this month that if you are not getting up to pee in the night, you are not drinking enough water! I usually have to get up once during the night to pee and I've gotten used to it! I try to drink enough water while at work but I am pretty much always thirsty and it is not uncommon for me to guzzle 2 litres of water when I get home from work.

Lots of people drink more water than I do - I drink 96 oz.
I used to feel I should just "move into" the bathroom and rent the rest of the house out. :) However, it does even out some eventually. I try to drink more through the day than after supper. I do have to get up in the night, usually a couple times.
Of course, I think the older you are well the more you might have to get up - past 50 like me. :) Of course, that might not be true either because I have an Aunt who is mid 80's and hardly ever has to get up in the night.

I believe I spend more time in the bathroom than out. I went grocery shopping tonight and I went twice when I was there. and I had gone before I left the house to go. I am always :work_out: to the bathroom it seems

I pee like crazy too! I can't stand it! I feel like it's going in one way and out the other as fast as it goes in! But I don't mind because I'm at least doing something I'm suppose to be doing for once!

Look at it this way-- At least we're flushing our bodies.
At least we are flushing our bodies out. The AMA recommends 8 8 oz glasses of water a day. And that's not decaf coffee or tea or such, it's just plain old water. But I heard they will accept leomon or lime in it - haha Seriously, our bodies need water and lots of it. Have you seen the commercial about losing a pint of water a day? course it's for a lotion or such but it makes a good point.
But I agree, my favorite place is the john! Donna, I thought I was the only one who couldn't make it thru the grocery without at least two trips to the toilet. I was getting paranoid that the security people were going to start following me in there!

Be glad you are peeing a lot, it is the only way to get the fat out of your body. Our bodies absorb some of the water we drink, the rest is used to flush out fat and toxins. One leader told me to think "there goes another gram" everytime I had to go. It makes each trip to the potty seem like a little victory:D
