Hello all,

Well - I've heard so much about bulgar here so I bought some from the bulk section of Wegman's today. I tried to search for recipes on this forum, but I didn't find much. Someone mentioned sweet bulgar -- that sounds yummy for breakfast. Can we start a thread with bulgar recipes? I'd love to experiment!!!

I don't really have any specific recipes, I usually just sub it for rice in anything that calls for a rice or even mashed potatoes. My DH likes leftover bulgur for breakfast warmed with Splenda and a splash of half & half... maybe a drop of honey. Good stuff.

I am actually going to try a bulgur salad that is featured in the new Cooking Light. If it's any good, I'll post the recipe.

Hi Paris,
That sounds really good. But how do you cook the bulgar. Should I just use do 2 parts water to 1 part bulgar in the microwave for a few minutes? If you wanted to make it sweet, could you use skim milk as the liquid (or part of the liquid) and then add some honey or fruit? I can't wait to try it tomorrow morning for breakfast. It's 2 points a cup, right?

Thanks so much - I love reading your posts. I'm a newbie and I get great ideas from you.

Okay ladies...hehehe...I went to Trader Joe's today and bought not only bulgar but also barley, oat bran, steel cut oats, and whole wheat couscous.

I guess I need to visit the recipe section, spend LOTS of time there and find some luscious recipes. I just hope my big fella and lil fella will enjoy eating them too. :embarrass

Here's how I do it because I'm lazy. :p

I usually have bulgur as a breakfast food so I make it the night before.
I put 1 cup of 1% milk in a bowl and add 40 grams of bulgur. I weigh everything so I would have to look on the pkg to see how much of a cup 40g is. Then I add some DV SF Syrup and nuke for 2 minutes. I let it cool then put in the fridge overnight. It's a bit wet in the morning but I drink the milk off like I would cereal so I get my milk serving in with all the goodness of bulgur. You can either eat it cold or warm it up.

It's been a long time but I have used this method with water but I use less water. I think it is 2 to 1.

Hope you like it.
