Hi Jeremy's mom and Mindy. I was just browsing and ran across this thread. I love to scrapbook (when I have time) and think scrapbooking a weight loss journey is a great idea! I would love to hear what the two of you have come up with. Any pages complete yet?

Hi Deb...no pages done for the weight loss scrapbook...yet. I just surfed the web and got some cartoons I want to include....I have a sens of humor about almost anything. I started out doing a 12x12 scrapbook for my WW journey, but decided that maybe a smaller one would be better. Do you have any ideas for my WW scrapbook? I've almost got the title page done...about what motivated me to join WW again. One problem I'm having is that for so long I used bodily harm as a threat to NOT have my pic taken....now my family thinks it's a test when I say...take my picture...no please take it....really!!!! :ugh: I've taken a ton of pics of where I like to go hiking...and I've got a really HORRIBLE pic for my before pic. Wish me luck!!

I'm a scrapper too! I'm thinking of doing an 8x8 album about my journey. Since I'm just starting, there's not much to put into it yet, but I'm still gathering ideas.
If I come across any good stuff, I'll post links. :exercise:

Hope you like them!!

Only One Pound
Hello, do you know me?
If you don't, you should.
I'm a pound of fat,
And I'm the HAPPIEST pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.
Want to know why?
It's because no one ever wants to lose me;
I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!
Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.
So I just stick around and happily keep you fat.
Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it.
That is, until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.
Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.
So, when you weigh in keep right on saying,
"Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing.)
For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.
And, I love being around you -
your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.
Happy Days!!!
After all, I'm
ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

If I Lose Just One Pound Each Week Of The Year
By the first day of Spring
I'd be 11 pounds lighter
I'd have a new spring in my step!
By Easter,
I'd be 14 pounds lighter
I'd be a cuter chick or bunny!
By the first day of Summer
I'd be 24 pounds lighter
I'd feel so cool!
By the first day of Fall
I'd be 38 pounds lighter
Let the pounds fall!
By Thanksgiving
I'd be 41 pounds lighter
I'd have so much to be thankful for!
By Halloween
I'd be 43 pounds lighter
No more scale scares for me!
By Christmas
I'd be 51 pounds lighter
Talk about a Merry Christmas!
By New Year's day
I'd be 52 pounds lighter
A new year and a new me!

Start Over
If you've started out in pursuit of your goal and you've really tried with your heart and your soul, but somehow things got out of control - START OVER!
When you've tried your best to do what you should and you thought this time that you surely would, but once again you didn't do good - START OVER!
When you've worked so hard to follow a dieters way, and you fought to win a victory each day, but one more time you went astray - START OVER!
When you've tried so hard to yourself to be true, and do the things that you know you should do, but once again you failed to come through - START OVER!
When the road to success seemed much too long, and each temptation was oh so strong,
and once again you gave in to wrong - START OVER!
When you've told your friends what you planned to do and trusted them to help you through, but soon discovered it's up to YOU - START OVER!
When you know you must be physically fit, but your hope seems gone and you're stuck in a pit, that's not the time for you to quit - START OVER!
When the week seems long and successes few, and at weigh in time you're feeling blue,
remember tomorrow is just for you - START OVER!
To start AGAIN means a victory's been won, and starting over AGAIN means a race well run, and starting over AGAIN proves it can be done, so don't just sit there -- START OVER!!
From one who's done it many, many times - if you're in a rut right now - START OVER!!

If You Think...You Can
If you think you're beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win, but think you can't,
It's almost for sure you won't.
If you think your losing, you've lost.
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a person's will.
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think your outclassed, you are.
You've got to think this to rise.
You have to stay with it
In order to win the prize.
Life's battles don't always go
To the one with the better plan.
For more often than not, you will win
If only you think you can.
_________________________________________________
Don't Quit
When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down,
And you feel like the biggest failure in town.
When you want to give up just because you gave in,
And forgot all about being healthy and thin.
So What! You went over your points a bit,
It's your next move that counts...So don't quit!
It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.
It's learning the skills to get back to your range.
It's telling yourself, "you've done great up till now.
You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow."
It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal.
You're still gonna make it, just stay in control.
To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,
If you summon the will to get back in the race.
But, often the strugglers, when losing their grip,
Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.
And learn too late when the damage is done,
That the race wasn't over and they still could have won.
Life-style change can be awkward and slow,
But facing each challenge will help you to grow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint in the cloud of doubt.
When you're pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit.
If you bite it, you write it... But Don't You Quit!

This is the 10/2 Weight Loss Mantra...
10 little 2 letter words that are easy to remember:
If It Is To Be... It Is Up To Me!!

AUTOBIOGRAPHY IN FIVE SHORT CHAPTERS
Chapter One:
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost....I am helpless.
It wasn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
Chapter Two:
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in the same place.
But it isn't my fault!
It still takes a long time to get out.
Chapter Three:
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in....It's a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
Chapter Four:
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
Chapter Five:
I walk down another street!
It says a lot in a few words. Remember, it you don't like the result - change the action!!

Hi fellow scrappers! So far I am hearing some great ideas!
Mrs. Z- Awesome motivationals! Do you mind if I "borrow" some of them for my scrapbook?
Jeremys Mom- How funny that you have very few pictures of you "before" You could always paper piece a silly faux picture of yourself as a "before" shot or an addition to your page. I also have a really HORRIBLE before pic for my scrapbook. If I were not already on WW before I had the picture developed I would have joined immediately! I cried when I saw the picture, and cannot wait until I can actually see progress from the awful picture that I will hide until I am able to use it as a "before!"
Mindy- That site is awesome, not only for weight loss pages, but also for other ideas. Thanks for sharing!!!
Jen- I look forward to hearing about ideas you have come up with. Be sure to share!
As for me, no progress on a ww journey scrapbook yet, but there are many ideas floating around in this head of mine. I will share when I finally develop something!
Until then, all the best,
Deb :o

MrsZ. Thanks for all the great stuff. Someone sent me the poem about the just one pound because I used to complain that I just lost 1 pound a week. When I got stuck and quit losing ANY pounds, then I really complained. Thanks again for all the way cool stuff.
Deb~ I got some vacation pics back recently and I saw one and thought...WOW..not bad. I've never ever said that about a pic of me before. So, I guess I won't mind putting in the really bad pic of me if I have some of the not so bad ones to put in too!!:D
Jen~ Thanks in advance for posting any great links you find!!!!
One more thing. I actually read in a scrapping magazine that we shouldn't include a diet in our scrap books because of the failure rate. But I say, it's part of my life, good and bad, so I'm gonna do it. I'm not going to include it in the family album because I'm so proud of the hard work I've done...I deserve an album of my own!!!!

Good thinking Jeremysmom... we all need a scrapbook of our own. You are a success, and it is something you should be proud of! Heaven forbid we slip back into our old ways, but if we did, maybe that scrapbook could be something to get us back on track again, a motivational tool.. just an idea.

Another idea for weight-loss scrap pages - be sure to add your favorite recipes!! Think of how fun that will be to read in twenty years!! In the latest issue of Paper Crafts magazine they have a really cute weight-loss journal made from the composition books you get for school.

Hi everyone,
I am an absolute scrap-a-holic, in fact, I teach scrapbook classes at a local craft store. I decided the minute I started WW that I would scrapbook my journey. I'm only 4 weeks into it, so I don't have much to work with yet, but I am already planning my title page and my "before" page. I think I'm going to do a 6 x 6 albulm. I'm so glad to discover that others are going to be doig the same thing. Maybe we can post our pages as we work on our albulms. By the way, I post on the 100+ forum.
Here's one poem I'm using:
My Clothing Shrunk
Written by Thena Smith
I awoke to the saddest sight...
All of my clothing shrunk last night!
I hung them in the closet
And then turned out the light
Only to find when I awoke
They had shrunken during the night!
It was the saddest thing to see
All of the things that had fit me
Were now much too tight and clung...
Do you think it was the way they were hung
That caused the shrinking in the night
Or could it have been the lack of light?
This has happened once before
(er..twice...ok three or four)
And I bought new stuff at the store.
And what an ugly surprise...
When I had to buy a larger size!
My slacks and blouses no longer fit
And to make the matter worse
Even my shoes were not immune
The only thing that fit me was my purse!
So I think I will be more careful in the future
Just where I hang my clothes at night
Because if all of this shrinking continues
I will look a sight!!
I hope the scientist will find an answer
As to what causes this awful problem soon
Because I've stored the clothes as evidence
And my closet is running out of room!
mrszotz - Thanks for sharing those ideas for additional poems and quotes. I'm definitely going to save them.
Jeremysmon - It looks like we'll be working on our books simultaneously. Have fun with it!
imckinny - Congrats on your recent marriage. I was married 12 years before I was introduced to scrapbooking. That was after the birth of my only son. Naturally the first book I did was for him (actually it seems that almost everything I scrap is a pic of him :) ). I have now been married 15 years and have just recently done my wedding album. I had the most fun doing it. I hope yours turns out wonderfully.

Hi everybody!
I'm a huge scrapbooker but I'm sorta on hold because our house is on the market, and I can't make a big "mess" every day. I do need some projects to keep me busy, and I'm close to goal so I thought I'd do an 8x8 maintenance scrapbook so every month I can post my weight, a picture, and a summary of what I was up to that month. I think that will really keep me motivated. I've reached goal before (a couple of times) but have never done maintenance.
(Don't let my stats fool ya - I weighed close to 170 when first did WW over 10 years ago)

What a great idea! One I never even thought of. And I work in the scrapbooking industry!! (I work for a company that manufacturers adhesives specific to the scrapbooking industry)
I've been wanting to do a book of me for a while, but never thought of doing it relating to my WW journey. I lost 90# on WW back in '95 and kept it off for 7 years or so. Then I got married in 2001, and little by little I have gained quite a bit of it back. I've been struggling with scrapping pictures of myself in my regular scrapbooks because I don't like the changes I've made to my body over the past several years. I think I might just give a try to scrapping my pics of my original WW journey, a few from these last few years when my weight is creeping up, and then some going forward now.
Would love to see some of the work you others are doing on your books!

Me! I'm obsessed, I've been having my husband build units (floor to ceiling ones) for like 3 weeks now.
I would say to journal your feelings alot and you can always go back to them for inspiration. I also love the look of "item" photos. Like a picture of the scale reading the number of your ideal weight, just photos besides people that when you look at them you smile :)

I just signed up for a scrapbooking class at Michaels because I am completely new to it and find myself compelled to make TWO books. :o One will be of our recent European vacation, and the other will be of our wonderful dog Spook, whom we had to euthanize this past week. I think I'll start with the vacation, as the other is still pretty raw, emotionally.
Maybe after completing those 2 books, I will be at/near Lifetime and ready to start a WW scrapbook. :)
If anyone has any advice/guidance for a new scrapbooker, I'd be happy to hear it.

Hi Fellow Scrappers!
I became addicted to scrapbooking back at the first of the year and I love it! I've done my wedding album and some pages from my cats. I want to start of my "book of me" book and I hope to incorporate some of my weight loss journey into that.
Advice to new scrappers: Don't buy lots of tools and stickers until you get your style down! It will save you a lot of money in the long run!

I'm a scrapper!!!
I tried the cardmaking, and although it was fun, I'm a little selfish with my creative side and I realized that all my good stuff was going to other people!! So, I'm back to scrapping....
I just finished an album for my nephew's first birthday party this Wednesday. It's SO cute and I love the way it turned out!! It's a look back at his first year, with a picture of him each month. It's AWESOME!!!!!
I scrap EVERYTHING. I have a book to scrap my Hawaiian trip last year, but that is slow coming with 2 little nephews, an older nephew VERY active in sports and a niece that is a very typical teen!! So much to scrap, never enough time!!

I have been scrappin since 1999. Thats the year I graduated and I started by scrapping my HS years. I have many books about everything!
The tools I CANNOT live without:
Creative Memories cutting system - you can cut nice shapes in your pictures
Fiskars 12" cutter - must have for cutting pictures and paper
Home pro eyelet setter - it sets eyelets with 1 squeeze, easy and quiet (like click a dile)
Punches - I love punches for making tags, word blocks, etc
I'm yet to buy a diecut machine, many of them have bad reports and the dies for sizzix are mega $$. For those I cut them at my local scrapbook store.
I'm a huge fan of 3D stickers like paper bliss, I also love the metal items. Hinges, alphabet brads, junkitz line, etc. Look on ebay you will find alot you LOVE :D

You may be able to tell by my screen name what my "preferred" products are. But I am by no means strickly CM!!!! I fell in love with the hobby about 3 years ago and have become a consultant if for no other reason than to support my own habit. Now I just have to get up the nerve to let someone actually take a picture of me!!!!! That is one of the things I look most forward to. Actually having pictures of me with my son. I am like so many others here that have no pictures of ourselves. Memory keeping is soooo important to me and I owe it to my wonderful son to lose this weight so I won't be so afraid of that camera!!!!
Good luck to everyone with their scrapbooks, maybe we could even share some layouts when we are done.
