Hi Buddies,

DS #2 recently decided to have a fish fry using my new non-stick Calphalon kettle  Of course we were gone at the time! Anyway, the hot oil overflowed and has coated the outside of my kettle with sticky, tacky grease graemlins/sobbing.gif

Any ideas how I can get it off?

TIA, Sheryl

You could try "Goo Gone" I love that stuff! Takes off just about anything, gum, bumperstickers, etc etc. Just make sure you wash it off really well after so it doesnt catch on fire!

I think you can buy it at Home Depot, its an orange colored oily cleaner that takes off just about anything. I would be afraid to use it IN the pan, but for the outside it should be ok.

Anther product I like to use for that tacky, yellow grease is Orange Clean Degreasing Foam. I use this to get those purply streaks and finger prints off of my stainless steel...works like a charm. The grease on my range hood just drips off with this stuff....and DH likes to use it on his grill. It might take a few applications, but I think it would work.
I have a hard time finding it though....

Drugstore.com happens to have it if you're interested:

We found a product called De-Solve-it that seems to work really well... Its made from citrus oils & even takes glued on labels off glass with no marks.. Its in a small spray bottle & you can ususally find it in the cleaner section of most grocery stores..

Put the pan in a garbage bag or any plastic bag you can seal up good add about 1/2 cup amonia and let sit for a day or so take out and you can easly scrub off any grease works on oven racks and bottoms of frying pans etc any place where there is hard to remove grease

Desi,

The beginning of your suggestion made me laugh & remember when I first got married many years ago. My Gram asked me where this nice little roasting pan was that she gave me & I told her it was dirty & greasy & icky & I couldn't clean it so I threw it in the garbage! She couldn't believe it.
