When you order through ebay, your seller ships through regular mail or UPS depending on what you pay for. Wrappings vary...everything from the priority boxes you buy at the post office to envelopes to brown paper wrappings...depends upon the seller. However, I've never seen a package that referred to ebay on the outside....they just look like ordinary packages. On the inside, however, they usually include a copy of your order. If you don't want this included, email the seller. If you have specific requests, you might try emailing the seller before you bid.
You are not horrible...you are doing what you can for yourself in the only way you think you can. I do think, tho, that if your husband won't let you out of the house with the baby, you do need to open up your mind to what is going on. I clearly am commenting without enough information to assess the situation correctly, but I may be hearing paranoia and perhaps a great deal more....do you want your child to be raised this way? Please just keep your mind open to the fact that you may need to seek help...usually this type of situation gets worse and I've never known it to get better. I'm a mental health therapist of many, many years experience...the director of a mental health center...please protect yourself by keeping your mind open and being willing to seek help. You may contact me if you wish. Your situation sets off alarm bells with me.
May you be well.

Wafa,

Your post shocked me & I agree with everything Jadeturtle said & she's got much more experience so I won't say anything else about that with the exception that I do hope you seek some advice/help with the situation you seem to be in.

To answer your question, the item will come to your house but you could probably have it shipped to a different address of a friend or relative as long as you work out the payment part with the seller. You don't have to give the seller the reason, or just say you'd be more comfortable having it shipped elsewhere so you'll be sure you receive the item. A lot of people don't like having packages sitting on their porches (or apt. buildings), if they work, etc. My friend, who lives in a condo, had an item stolen by an elderly neighbor, who signed for it & everything; but denied it.

Good luck with everything!

I am trying ebay for the first time. I bid on a flex point kit. My problem is my husband doesn't know I did. He has a problem with buying stuff over the internet. I need to know how shipping thing works. I do not want him to be here when it arrives. He'll start asking questions. I know I am horrible, but he won't let me go out of the house when I have my baby ( that's a long story). So I was wanting to order it over the internet now to be prepared when the baby comes. Does anyone know how I should go about doing this? I know some of you will say just sit him down and make him understand. Well my husband is not a very open-minded person. Let's just say he's set in his ways. I don't know if I am making sense here, but please help someone. Is it just something I have to take on with the seller? I haven't won the item yet but I am just asking for now.

Thanks

I was also going to suggest that you have the item shipped to a friend or neighbor. Then, when your hubby asks where you got it you can always say that a friend gave it to you. :D

Also, you may want to delete your post because he may be reading your messages too. graemlins/crazy.gif

See, we can be sneaky if we need to be.

I am sorry! ;) I knew someone would misunderstand me. He won't let me out of the house with the baby as soon as I have her. Because I will be resting up from the birth. I wanted to start right away that's all. He'll let me out of the house it's not like he's keeping me caged up. And him not being open-minded he just doesn't want me putting our credit card info on the net. He doesn't believe it's secure. I explain to him it's the same as ordering something on the phone or paying with a credit card in the resturant. You don't know who you are giving your credit card too. But he won't listen he insist the internet is more dangerous. In a way it is, but it depends on which websites you use you credit card. I am sorry for anyone who misunderstood my post. But thanks for the support either way.

I have decided to order it and when it comes, if he's home, to tell him I went to the local WW chapter and tell him I paid for it there but they were out. So I paid for it and they said they would mail it to me when more came in. All I a worried about is him finding out I put our credit card online. The seller agreed to cash, check, or money order. I will pay with check, but to register with ebay you have to put a credit card number. Thank you all for the suggestions I really appreciate it.

Are you real sure about having to provide a credit card just to register to bid at Ebay? That doesn't sound right.

I'd send the seller a check if they're agreeable, that way you don't have to do any "creative explaining" to your DH.

We don't do PayPal because of having to tie it to a checking account. I'm not that trusting. My SU (Spousal Unit) bids on Ebay, he never supplied a credit card to open his account to bid and he works things out with the seller when he wants something, usually by sending a check.

According to eBay "if you register with an "anonymous" email address, such as Yahoo or Hotmail, you'll need to place a valid credit card number on file to verify your identity. Your card will not be charged."

I have been buying and selling on eBay since 1999 and never had had a problem. My feedback is 106 with no negatives.

You might have trouble with a seller sending a package to an address different than the one you have registered with eBay but if you pay with a money order they shouldn't mind. There is alot fraud on ebay so sellers (and buyers)get a little paranoid if something out of the ordinary is asked of them.

If you pay with a check the seller usually will not send the item untill the check clears, about 10 days.

If you have any special requests you should ask the seller BEFORE you bid.

Also make sure you read ALL the terms of the auction. There are sellers that sell low but charge an outrageous shipping cost to make up for it.

Check out the sellers feedback. Don't be put off if there are a few negatives. Sometimes they are in retaliation to the seller posting negative feedback on a buyer. So if the seller has alot of feedback with a few negative, don't be frightened by this.

Good luck on your transaction and if there is anything I can help you with just pm me. I would be glad to assist you.

And congrtaulations on the upcoming blessed event!
