My hubby & I took a 4 day/3 night cruise (not nearly long enough :0) to the Bahamas. We flew from Raleigh, NC to Tampa, FL on Wed. Rented a car drove to Key West & stayed until Fri AM then hopped on board the boat, cruised until Mon AM & then rented another car & drove to Ft. Lauderdale for the day! Flew back on that Monday night! We spent about $2000 for flight, car rental, cruise & everything....it was soooo much fun, but if I had to do it over, I'd take a longer cruise & wouldn't worry w/ the car rental & sightseeing!

My husband and I both love cruise ships!! We've only been on one to the Mexican Riviera. We're in the middle of planning a Disney cruise vacation this November, and want a looooong Mediteranian cruise someday.

So much activities to choose from, so many food choices!! You don't have to worry about finding a designated driver when the evening's done. ;) Cruises really are so much fun!

How about a beach rental?

A small house on the Outerbanks of NC could be had for under 1,000 (if you're there during the busy season), if you went during the off season (starting around labor day), the beaches are not as busy, and the rental prices go down. Food and entertainment is very affordable, as would a flight and car rental be if you shopped around.

My husband and I spend a week there every year visiting his family - we love it.

What is the best place you have ever been on vacation for less than $3000 for two people?

My DH and I are planning a trip and we would like some ideas.

Go to www.funjet.com (http://www.funjet.com) and click on 'hot deals'. scroll down to the city you want to fly out of, and it will show you all their current deals. my husband and i just booked a trip to playa del carmen mexico, all inclusive 7 days, for less than $2000!!! this is our 4th trip with funjet, and i can't recommend them enough! they are with you every step of the way, and have reps on site at the hotels FULL TIME.

good luck, and have fun whatever you choose!

Well, it depends on what you like, but my most recent trip was a week in Vegas (three of us went for a hotel and airfare for a week the total was $1450 - if you don't mind hot desert air in August, it was quite fun!)

If you want to wander, I recommend some of the package deals such as a fly and drive through Ireland or England. Rental car, B&B and wander on your own. I met a lot of great people that way and it was a lot of fun.

And depending on the spur of the moment type things, last minute deals off the travel sites can get you some great prices as well.

Cruise cruise cruise!!!!

For the amount of money that you want to spend, you could do a higher end cruise (Radisson, Silver Seas) or get a really great room (private veranda suite etc.) on a mid-range cruise line like Holland America or Royal Caribbean.

Have fun!!!
