Anybody care to give me their opinion and a good cheap vac for my daughter? She's starting out in her 1st apt and I want to get her a good vacuum that's not that expensive but is a really good one.

Anybody?

Thanks SO much! graemlins/wave.gif

I bought a Hoover Fold Away (http://www.hoover.com/db/xq/asp.hvrProductMain/ProdID.221/SubID.1/CatID.1/qx/FoldAway.htm) about a year ago. I paid $100 at Wal-Mart. I absolutely love it. The vacuum is powerful enough to get things clean, but it's small enough to store away in a small closet. The handle folds down, making it easier to store in smaller places (like that first apartment). smile.gif

It also comes with a few attachments that store on the back of the vacuum. And it's bagless, which I love. It gets rave reviews from me! :D

Edited to add...
It comes fully assembled, which was another major plus.

Katie, I don't know if the Costco vacuums are cheap enough, but what I love about buying from Costco is that if you don't like the product 9 months later, they'll take it back, no questions asked, and give you a full refund.

I am also a Hoover fan. You can pay a wide range but I have never been disappointed. My MIL bought me an Oreck for Xmas and I really don't like it as well as the Hoover I already had and it's supposed to be the next best thing since sliced bread.

This is really helpful to me, guys--thanks SO much.

Anyone have any other comments? I think I'm going to replace my icky vacuum too!

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy and Oreck, mine has been nothing but problems! It is broken more often than it works. Do not EVER buy one. smile.gif

I now own the most fabulous vacuum I've ever owned, but it wasn't cheap. I got a Dyson Animal. It IS an animal when it comes to cleaning. I've seen a few inexpensive but seemingly powerful vacuums on QVC.

Okay. THAT did it! ;) I'll have to put in a good word for ORECK!...

I have had mine and have loved it. Ease of use, great suction. When it came time for DD to have one, I gave her mine and got a new one.

My cleaning fairy cleaned MANY MANY houses using ALL kinds (up to extremely expensive: Rainbow and Miele?) and she loved MINE the best! graemlins/thumbup.gif

I have always hated vacuuming; still don't like it, but it's so easy with this one. Only 8 pounds. Doing the stairs is a breeze. Carrying up and downstairs, a breeze. I have had Hoover and Sanitaire...I'm stuck on my ORECK. :D

Dear Rhiannon828, Thanks for the tip on the Hoover Foldaway. We checked it out, liked what we saw and bought it from Amazon.com for under $100. The shipping and handling was free because we opted to allow them to pick the delivery date which is next Wednesday. Many thanks!
