Is anyone else really sensitive to smells now that they have quit?
The smell of diesel fuel and exhaust make me want to puke.
I can't deal with being around people who are smoking anymore. I am glad that NY passed that law-I like going out to eat or to a bar and not having to deal with smelling it (which leads to wanting it...)
One day, we went to a cigar bar before a friend's wedding. The next day on my way to work, I smelled the smoke on my leather coat, and almost had to pull over because the smell was making me nauseus.
Does this happen to anyone else, or am I just weird?

The smell of smoke makes me sick. I haven't found anything else that does yet. I have found that things taste different. Thing that I used to like to eat I don't like anymore and here I thought things were suppose to taste better.

It's funny, when someone walks by me I can smell the smoke on them and I think "did I smell like that before?" I always put on perfume but now it lasts a lot longer and I get compliments like "boy you smell good." I din't know what I was missing.
One year, five months, two weeks, four days, 4 hours, 42 minutes and 50 seconds. 32171 cigarettes not smoked, saving $3,941.35. Life saved: 15 weeks, 6 days, 16 hours, 55 minutes.

After visiting family that smoke, my clothes, hair etc. smell so bad. I don't wear my coat in their house. Can't stand the smell. I also can smell a smoker a mile away.
Have to say that I have had sinus trouble even after quiting smoking. My husband says it's because they don't know how to react to fresh air. Yeah right! I keep thinking what trouble I would have if I was still smoking.
Benefits of quiting are tremendous.
Hugs to all,

Yes! Definitely I am sensitive to smells. I quit on September 15th 2003 and it was the best thing I ever did. I have gained 10-15 lbs but, it was worth it. I am on WW now hoping to lose at least ten.
I am extremely sensitive to gas fumes, car fumes, cigarette/cigar smoke and body odour......yuck, especially on crowded transit!!
The worst smell in the world to me is when someone gets on a crowded subway when it has been raining AND they just had a cigarette.
Gag me.
I have literally been sick to my stomach for this and Also noticed major increase in headaches due to sensitivity to smell.
What I do absolutely love (AND I HAVE QUIT FOR OVER A YEAR) is the way my own hair smells. I never remember having it smell so good and yes, I do get others who comment that I smell good too.
The stupidest memory I have of smoking is going to sneak a smoke before a big meeting at work and running in late pretending I was coming from another meeting or saying I was on a phone call. You really don't think people can smell the stench on you because you don't smell it! What an idiot I was!!
