Hi just wanted to come on and reafirm to myself that I can do this. I am sitting here wanting to be a non smoker but also wishing I could have just one more. I have no intention of having that one cig but boy are the cravings ever strong right now. I am going to go and have a long soak in a warm bubble bath and then go to bed I think my cravings are worse when I am hungry or tired, has anyone else noticed this?

Anyways thanks for being here I know that there are not many of us on this board but just knowing that it is here really helps.

Chrysilis :D

Hi: Just wanted to share with you how I handeled the bad craves (in addition to the cut off straw). When I thought I could no longer take it, I would tell my husband that I was going for a walk, but if I still felt this bad tomorrow that I would smoke. Not today. I never told myself that I could never have another cig. That was just to hard to imagine. I would always tell myself not today, but maybe tomorrow. If you tell yourself this every time the craves are bad, it will make it easier. Anybody can not smoke for one day. Right? Remember, not one puff. I don't know if you have a place to walk or if you have a treadmill, but I had both. When the weather was nice I walked outside.

Just to let you know, I have been quit for two, plus years. I won't smoke today, but maybe tomorrow if the cravings are bad.

Hang in there, it does get better.

Hugs,
Clara

The first two weeks are the worst. Then they get better. I am a firm beleiver that it is best to just go w/o any nicotine replacement. Your goal is to get the crap out of your system, right?!

Just take it one day at a time--each day that you get through it, is another day that you can add onto your life. (And, for me, another $7 in my pocket)

I couldn't imagine my life if I still smoked. What got me to quit was when a coworker told me "Its not becoming for a bride to smoke" and the thought of burning a hole in my $1000 wedding dress that my mom bought for me. I have been quite for 7 1/2 months, and got married 2 1/2 months after I quit.

Janice-if you need more support, feel free to PM me. You can get through this. ;)

Hi Janice,
How are you hanging in there? I'm a newbie quitter-6 days- how long has it been for you? To keep busy I'm doing lots of cleaning and organizing to keep busy with my hands-today was the junk drawer and the hall closet, I know my family is wondering what has happened!
I'd love to keep in touch w/someone else that has quit!
