I recently shared this tip from EC with readers of my
crockpot recipe newsletter, and it's such a good tip I
want to share it with you too. Apologies to those who get
to read it twice. smile.gif

Thanks for the Vitamix recipe! Almond milk is
excellent! You can do the same thing with
peanuts and sunflower seeds for milk. If you
make peanut milk, then you add banana and
honey, and it is incredibly d'licious!

I've never tried peanut milk, but you can be sure
that'll happen this weekend. My thought is to add
a frozen banana (frozen without skin, of course) to
the mix and end up with a banana shake. Whoa!

I guess I should share the original recipe for almond
milk, eh? This recipe could also be created in a good
blender. It was contributed by Kathy J, and here it is

Chet,

I LOVE my Vita Mix, also! I haven't gotten
too creative with it, but I would love some new
receipes to use my VitaMix for.

One thing I do make in my Vita Mix is fresh
almond milk.

Take raw almonds (must be raw) and soak them in
water for 1-12 hours. I put some in a little
container, cover with water and put them in the
refrigerator overnight. Drain the almonds, put
them in the VitaMix with a little fresh water
and blend. You can make it as thin or thick as
you desire. You can use this "milk" in any
recipe that calls for milk.

If you use a blender or want the almond milk quite thin,
pour through several layers of cheese cloth. You can use
the discarded almond pulp in cookies or whatever. smile.gif

Thanks, Momma! That sounds GREAT! I'm always looking for ways to get non-dairy milk...And I LOVE my VitaMix! :D

Did you ever get one for your arsenal of kitchen gadgetry?...I can't remember if it's on-your-list, or not! graemlins/bcbsalute.gif graemlins/wave.gif

Hey Carol graemlins/wave.gif

Nope, decided not to get a VM, just can't justify the price. But, I thought all y'all VM'ers would like that post on making nut milks.

Well, I sure appreciate your thinking of us!

And, Momma...I can't think of another person who would push-it's-parameters more than you! graemlins/bcbsalute.gif For SURE, it wouldn't sit on a counter and collect dust! ;) :D
