Hi Rover, re: Vita-Mix. It does so many things, I don't know where to start. It's a high-powered blender (like the ones in Starbucks, etc..), with a 2.0 horsepower motor, chopper, food processor, bread dough mixer, hot soup maker, hot drink maker, ice cream, sorbet & granita maker, coffee bean grinder, whole grain processor, & I'm sure a whole bunch of things I haven't even figured out yet (only had mine for one week).
The web site for it is vitamix.com. There are several video's there you can watch that are really neat, if you have a high speed web connection.
DH can't drive by a Starbucks without stopping. I refuse to pay that much $ for any drink, but he is a lot different than me.
I had/have a regular Krups blender, but this didn't make drinks anything like Starbucks quality, so he refused them. I know, he's very, very, spoiled! Anyway, my VM makes drinks exactly like Starbucks. I think it's simply amazing, and DH has not bought anything Starbucks since the VM arrived. He has fallen totally in love with it, and this is even after he told me nothing could compare to Starbucks drinks.
Now the bad news. It is very expensive, but worth every penny, I think.... Mine is the Super 5000, and it was $516.00, including sales tax & shipping. But....it replaces a whole bunch of other appliances in your kitchen & comes with a 7-yr. warranty.
Also, I ordered mine from the Vitamix web site. The service I received from the Vitamix company was terrific. They even called me to make sure it arrived safely & on-time, which it did. Very impressive.
Hope this answers all your questions,
Do you think you might get one???
Hugs,
Dawna

Dawna -
You are getting me soooo excited about ordering the VitaMix! Especially with this Peach Sorbet.....yummy!
One question......How many business days did it take to arrive? I am ordering it the week of the 22nd, and I want to make sure I have it by August 3rd for my party.
Thanks!
Love, Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, Well, I ordered my VM on-line through the Vitamix site on a Sunday, and I had it two days later, Tuesday afternoon. I did pay for next day mail (they are closed on Sundays), & they shipped it on Monday.
Tonight I am making something called "Raspberry Zinger" for DH. He loves raspberries in anything.
It is in the VM book that came with the machine. If it is good (how can it not be???), I will post it for everyone later.
Also, I am making the cold creamy cucumber soup that is in the book, in the VM for dinner. I will post that also.
Cheryl, you will get a whole bunch of stuff with the machine. Video (really neat), & several recipe books.
I knew I had something really great here, when DH told me he loves the VM. He usually doesn't show much enthusiasm for any appliance, and doesn't pay much attention when I get something new, but he says this thing is amazing.
Ok..ok...enough about the VM.
later,
Dawna

It's a little hard to dampen-the-enthusiasm...!! ;) :D
But you'll find that out for yourself...!! Carol
