This weeks meeting objective is to help us to recognize the connection between weight and feelings of self worth & to share strategies for breaking that association!
Get to your meeting!! This should be a good one!!

I'll be there tomorrow. Probably can't stay for the whole meeting as I have to get to work, but that's ok. I'll hear some of it.
I love those e-mail newsletters that tell us the topics of the upcoming month's meetings. My next one should be coming soon.

Am looking forward to hearing the topic on Saturday. This is one area that I definitely need to listen to and process.
Why is it that we seem to connect self-worth with our weight. Tonight I was waiting in line at Subway and there was a young girl who was very thin and "dressed to the 9s" in front of me. I found myself feeling so inadequate compare to her, and asked myself why?
I guess that this meeting will help me discover the answer to my question!!
Thanks for the post,

I too am looking forward to this topic. My self-worth is determined by how much I lose each week. I get upset when I "only lose" .4 or anything less that 2 lbs. Why is that? graemlins/crazy.gif

Oh man, that is me. I think we are so programmed by so many different things to feel this way. That is not an excuse, though. This will be a good topic.

See my post under "the most motivational thing your leader ever did" to find out more about this one. I'd been feeling awful for weeks, even missed a few meetings, when I finally showed up for this one. I'm really glad I did. My leader is awesome! (Is it okay to give names on this list? I'd give her a plug if I could.)

This week's meeting really hit home for me. As somebody who has tried and failed with weight loss before, it has been an incredibly difficult journey to look oneself in the face and make oneself accountable for your own actions.
Yet, it was inspiring to sit there and listen to our leader because at one point during her talk, she said to value this time because it is the one loving thing you can do for yourself that nobody else can. It should be viewed as a special time for each of us. It may be difficult and at times stressful, but it should also be joyful.
I think I'm about to burst into tears here because being the "dope" that I am I don't think I've cared enough about myself or my health to be committed to weight loss. I've also viewed this as a pain and hard work and not been willing to acknowedge the joy.
Thanks for letting me spill my guts here.
