At my meeting, this week's topic was Breakfast. There was a true/false quiz. Can't remember all the questions, but basically about how it is medically/scientifically proven that breakfast fuels our day. A discussion followed about people who always eat breakfast and those who do not. Also the shopping cart was brought out with ideas for breakfast.
Please post your 2, 3, 4, and 5 point breakfast ideas, especially those that are quick and easy for the work day morning--we all know how hectic that is. I usually eat my bowl of cereal standing at the counter while I'm making lunches for myself and DS for school--so I need quick, easy ideas.
Thanks, Kathy

So true! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and if I don't get it the rest of the day is much harder for me.
Personally, I spend 1/3 to 1/2 of my target points on breakfast (9-11 points) so my meals are going to be a bit higher than requested, but here are some ideas ---
old-fashioned oatmeal w/ a nut butter mixed in
nut butter & jam on whole grain bread
crustless quiche w/ lots of veggie filling
smoothie with frozen fruit, milk & flax seed
egg scrambles w/ lots of veggies
berries with yogurt & flax seed
buckwheat pancakes w/ berries &veggie sausage
hard cooked egg on whole grain toast & apple slices w/ low-fat cheese
low-fat ham and cheese on whole grain bagel or toast

Here's my standard breakfast:
3 egg whites - 1 pt.
2 veggie sausages - 1 pt.
flax cereal (wheat brean, soy protein, pysillium husk, and crushed almonds w/Splenda) - 2 pts.

I am pretty much routine-oriented, so my standard breakfast during the week is oatmeal (2 pts). On the weekends I make an omlette, usually my rendition of a Southwest omlette:
1 egg + 1 egg white - 2 pts
1/2 C. Black beans, mixed with spices - cumin, garlic, etc. - 1 pt
1/4 C. Light Mexican style cheese - 2pts
1 T. Salsa - 0 pts
2 T. Light Sour Cream - 1 pt
This, with some light wheat toast, is a nice change from the oatmeal!

I must have my morning coffee and it's usually oatmeal and 1/2 banana, or Special K with Berries.

Okay, I will admit it - I'm one of those bad people that doesn't eat breakfast. In fact, I think I screwed up my poor leader's segue into the topic today because she asked if I ate breakfast and I said no. But I have a very good reason for it - I'm severely hypoglycemic and for some strange reason, if I eat before a certain time, my blood sugar will bounce up and down all day, and I find it much harder to stay on the plan. So I wait until about 11 AM and have a snack. I actually explained this to my leader today and she was totally fine with the explanation - apparently, her husband is unable to eat breakfast either due to medication that he takes, so she's been on both sides of the fence.
Yes, I know this is bad, but for me, it works. I lost 50 lbs this way my first time and it seems to be working this time, too. I just find that it's easier to stay within my points for the day if I wait to eat anything - because if my blood sugar bounces up and down, I reach for the first thing that will make me feel better, and that's usually something bad for me like a Coke or a candy bar. And if I do that, I continue the bounce and I'm done for the rest of the day. When I first lost, I found that if I did eat breakfast, I would end up off the plan by the end of the day from low blood sugar.
However, if anyone asks me, I *do* tell them to eat breakfast - I advise them that not eating breakfast is a health issue for me, but most normal people *should* eat breakfast.

I am a school bus driver, I get up at 4:30am.I can't eat that early, nor do I ever have time. I get home around 9am but by then I am starving. I usually end up eating on the bus during my 1/2 hour between runs...not always good choices...UNTILL COMING OP!!!But it is hard to figure out what to eat that is good for me, tastes good, and is a good point choice. I've done the usual dry cheerios, banana...bagel, w/lite cream cheese...I'm bored with my choices.
Any suggestions?

Cindy, I also do a lot of traveling. Although I rarely have to leave as early as you do. I like to keep breakfast bars around (usually for snacks at night, but they come in handy for the morning). The special K is only 2 points, but the one I LOVE is the oatmeal crisp (blueberry)--it is 3 points. I have that and a cup of skim milk, and I am good for about 3-4 hours. Then I usually have a piece of fruit. Now that they are in season, I will peel an orange before leaving home so I just have to grab the pieces.
I know you can't eat breakfast bars every day, but maybe once a week this would help.
And thanks to everyone for the suggestions. And Paris, we can pare down your suggestions--I need to eat every 2-3 hours, so a 9 point breakfast would not work for me!
Thanks everyone--please add so we can all have a good variety--especially for the days we have more time--or those quickies we all need.

I am very boring when it comes to breakfast. I never ate breakfast until I joined WW and now I do it only because it's "the right thing to do" not because I actually want to eat in the morning. I am up at 5:00 and out the door at 5:30, so I can't eat at home. But I bring along a light yogurt every day and eat it after I get to work. (6:30/7:00)
Before my points target dropped this last time, I had a 4 point breakfast that I enjoyed. I would bring along a light english muffin (1) and a slice of Kraft 2% cheese (1) and go across to the cafeteria at 7:00 where I would have them fry me an egg (2) and make a sandwich out of it.

If I eat breakfast when I first get up in the morning, I'm eating all day, too, and usually run out of points around noon. I've found that if I start drinking a glass of water when I get up, it curbs my appetite. I have alot of energy in the morning, so I get into something, anything, and around 10:00 or 11:00 a.m. I eat a combination breakfast, lunch (brunch) and that leaves alot more points for the rest of the day and snacks. If I can have a big breakfast at that time, like eggbeaters (1/4 cup=1pt.)with broccoli or green peppers, scrambled, veggie sausage links (2=1 pt.), frozen hash browns(2 pts), and orange juice or fruit(1 pt), I feel like I've had a huge breakfast and am stuffed. And it's only 5 pts for basically two meals. Good luck OP everyone. Debbie

Hi I'm the queen of quik breakfast.
I have Nature Valley chewy trailmix fruit and nut bar- 3 pts and an apple, banana or orange.
Or a Quaker Oats Instant Oatmeal, especially apple cinnamon 3pts. and skim milk.
Also I like cold cereal such as raisin bran, rice crispies, or cornflakes and 2% milk and a piece of fruit.
Also 1 or 2 lf Eggo and 2 lf Brown and Serve sausage links - 1 pts each and piece of fruit.
McD's Egg Muffin - 7 pts if I'm really on the go and some fruit.
Have time on weekends? Ww Pineapple and Coconut Smoothie. In a blended 1 can pineapple chunks, 1/2 cup lite coconut milk, 1/2 can orange juice concentrate and 1 c or more ice. makes 4 - 8oz servings about 5 pts per serving.
Judy
I put a tablespoon of peanutbutter on a medium sized whole-wheat pita, fold it over and eat it in the car, for 3 points

1/2 cup of Kashi Go Crunch in a plastic bag
1 Clementine
Large cup of ice tea with splenda
As my husband calls my cereal,"sticks and twigs," I love it because you can eat it on the go and it really fills you up (I can only eat 1/2 cup at a time)
Total points: 1.5 to 2
