Hello buddies!
My Mom is finally having her hip surgery today, after years and years of putting it off to care for others. Please keep her in your prayers today. Because of the SARS restrictions, I am not able to be with her.
Thanks in advance!

Glenda, You can count on me. I will be praying for your Mom.
BTW, my FIL had this surgery several years ago, and although the recovery took a little while, and he had some discomfort for several days after the surgery, everything turned out fine. He also went to rehab for 2 or 3 weeks before he went home. He was 82 years old when he had the surgery.
Big hugs,

Hugs to you and your mom, Glenda. I know you have been through a lot lately and you don't need any more turmoil in your life. My FIL also had a good experience. He was up and walking very soon with therapy. He was in his early 70's when he had the surgery and he is 79 now. I will pray that everything will go smoothly for your mom.

Dear Legal and Hoot!
Thanks for the prayers!
My mom was supposed to have surgery yesterday at a hospital an hour away. All ready and waiting to be wheeled to the OR, they cancelled the surgery!!! The gov. suggested that another blackout would occur during her surgery time, so they did not want to take that chance. She will probably be rebooked for another month or 2! HOW FRUSTRATING! It took her years to make the decision to stop caring for others and to look after herself, and this happens! IEEEEE! Well, she will have her hip replaced soon enough. God must have had a reason!
I will call on your support when she goes back, but for now I thank you both.

How frustrating to get prepared and have that happen! Keep us posted and I will send continued prayers that things will turn out well.

Hiya buddies!
Mom was supposed to be rescheduled for 2 months from now, but she called the very next day, and they fit her in this past Thursday. Things have been so hectic with going back to work (I'm an EA) and preparing for school for my little boy, and helping mom with this proceedure, thatI was unable to post an update.
She went through the surgery well, but her pressure went a little low. He recovery is going slowly, and she is in a lot of pain. He veins are so small and deep (like mine, thanks MA!) so she blew her IV, and after an hour of trying to find another way, she said no to the IV. No morephine by pump, only pill. IKES! But she is a trooper, and I love her.
Thanks for you prayers and support. I think they were just on pause, as they certainly helped!

Glenda, Thank you for updating us. You can count on me....I will be praying.
Please make sure she does all her exercises when the time comes for that. My FIL refused to do any exercise once he left rehab, and his mobility has really suffered because of that. Five years after his surgery, he is on a walker/cane.
We have been told this is because of his refusal to exercise after the hip surgery. (we couldn't even get him to take the shortest of walks with us).
Big support hugs,
Dawna
