I have been comparing labels on all the yogurts I can find, and I'm distressed to find that most of the fat-free ones have aspartame!! The only one I've found that doesn't is my favorite (thank goodness)--Kroger Lite.
Anybody know of others that don't have that nasty aspartame?

Dannon's plain does not contain any sweeteners. You could add fruit + your own choice of sweetener. I mostly use yogurt as an ingredient (i.e., I don't eat it plain), so I buy the big container of Dannon ff plain.

Katie~ I, too, buy NF plain in the big container (Nancy's, made by Ken Kesey's factory in Eugene). When I want "sweetness" or "flavor" I add squirts of DV SF syrups. graemlins/wave.gif

Bluebunny Lite 85 is sweetened with Splenda and is fat free with active cultures. Kroger Lite is simply delicious with so many flavors to choose from. smile.gif

2nd on the Blue Bunny Lite 85 yogurts (if you can find them).. Not only do they use Splenda instead of aspartame, they don't add fructose  like most of the other light/fat-free yogurts are now doing... So, it is completely fat-free & "sugar-free" as well..
And, totally YUMMY!!! :D

My favorite yogurt is Yoplait Source. It is sweetened with Splenda, not aspartame and tastes just as good as regular yogurt. Best of all, a 100 g serving is only 50 calories, and no fat which makes it only 1 point per serving!
Here is a link to an article on it...
Source yogurt (http://www.saveonfoods.com/1/brightlife/healthy_living/diabetes/yoplait/yoplait.htm)
I hope I did that right. This page lists all nutritional info, information on the yogurt and even a handful of recipes.

Thanks, Kim--I haven't seen Source in stores here in VA, but I'll be looking for it. smile.gif

Hey Katie,
Is sugar something you want to stay away from completely? If not, I swear by Stonyfield Farms yogurts. Organic milk, organic sugar, no bovine growth hormones--and delicious!
My favorite is the vanilla yogurt, but all their flavors are yummy. The low-fat and non-fat single servings are 2 points per container for most flavors. As a treat, I buy their whole milk yogurt (4 points for a single serving) and it is better than ice cream. I promise. :D

I have struggled long and hard with what I refer to as the yogurt issue. I love the idea of yogurt, especially the active cultures and calcium, but I don't care for all of the extra AS or sugar... the sourness of plain yoggie was not doing it for me. Then low and behold I found Fage Total 2% Greek yogurt (http://www.fage.gr/page/default.asp?id=413&la=2) at Trader Joe's and fell in love! It's 3 points for 8 oz with a smooth and creamy texture and no sourness! I like to mix 1/2 cup with 1/2 cup raspberries or blueberries... beyond yummy! I highly recommend it. There is also a fat-free version available.

Suzie, I've seen that yogurt, and looked at the label---looks like "good stuff" but yes, I do try to stay completely away from sugar. It just creates havoc in my system, and cravings and I don't get along well. Thanks for your reply!
Paris, I'll check for that next time I go to Whole Foods--we don't have a Trader Joes around here. That sounds really, really good--thanks!

I've been experimenting with plain FF yogurt and DV syrups. I made a batch last week with carmel and green apple. Tasted good but the blending made it more of a drink than a snack. :odear:
I'm thinking of trying to add a bit of unflavored gelatin to see if it will firm up.
I'll let you know how it comes out.
I really like the Kroger ones, but it really bugs me that they are getting smaller and haven't changed in price.
I just read in fitness magazine to blend yogurt with fruit juice and freeze into popsicles. I'm going to try that when I get back from vacation.

Joanne, I've really good at making flavored yogurt out of plain non-fat---you don't get all the chemicals and fillers with some of the plain NF yogurts (and they can be cheaper!). I like Dannon and Kroger--all they have is milk, pectin and vitamins.
I just add a little Davinci's (to keep it thick and creamy) and for extra sweetness, I use Splenda, and then the natural sweetness from fruits or baby food fruit I put in. I also add Fiber One a lot of times. My favorite is yogurt, Splenda, Fiber One, peaches, cinnamon, French Vanilla Davinci--Yummy! :)

Baby Food Fruit! What a great idea! That's what I love about this board, stuff I would just never think of! Thanks! :bcbsalute
