Does anyone out there have a great low point receipe for Broccoli Rabe? I have never prepared it and I had heard that it is bitter. Thanks, Judy

If you cook it in a lot of boiling water, some of the bitterness goes away. I also cut off the bottom thick stems and use only the top part. I especially like it mixed with 1 or 2 cups of linguini (6 points) - garlic and I Can't Believe Its Not Butter Spray. The Italian recipe for this is to cook the garlic in oil and then pour over, but it tastes just as good with garlic powder and the spray. It is also good just as a vegetable.

I love Broccoli Rabe. I am Italian and grew up eating it.

It can be a bit bitter but its really good.

If you want you can cut off the bottoms because they can be a bit tuff but I like them.

Put it in a sauce pot and put in a couple cups of water or you can use chicken broth.
Add lots of fresh chopped garlic and salt and pepper.
Put in a pinch of crushed red pepper and about 1/4 cup of
olive oil and put lid on and let cook for about 1hr or untill tender.

I love to put it on Italian bread and eat like a sancwhich.
Basically you can use it in anything. Like in soups or on top of veggie burgers or as a side dish.
Give it a try its really good....

I like to have it with pasta. Wash well and trim the stems. Saute 1 small chopped onion and 1 garlic clove in 1 tsp olive oil. Ass a generous pinch of red pepper flakes. Meanwhile, cook the pasta -- something like bows or ears, not long pasta like spaghetti.. When the onion and garlic get soft, add the broccoli rabe, and toss it well to coat with the oil. Saute for about 3-5 minutes. Add 1 cup of pasta and a splash of chicken broth. Toss well and cover. Simmer until the rabe is the texture you like. Serve with 1 point worth of fresh shaved pasresean or romano. It is also good with bread crumbs, or with a squeeze of lemon.

YogaMama I just got a kick out of your typo. A** a generous pinch of red pepper flakes. Well at least I got a little excitement before going to bed.
