How do you prefer to exercise? (In a group, alone, with a cyber-buddy)
If you don't exercise, what is holding you back from it?
Okay, its more than one question, but I think you all are up to the challenge!

My answer: Most of the time, I prefer to exercise alone. The past 2 days, tho, SSKatie and I have been cyber exercise buddies which has been VERY motivating! (Thanks Katie!)

I walk...usually alone unless I can get DH to go along with me. We're thinking of joining a gym though and if so, I'll probably get into a water aerobics and a yoga class...plus the weight training.
I wish I had a girlfriend that would workout with me but alas, they are all skinny and don't live close enough for quick exercise hooking up!

I prefer to exercise by myself. A lot of my exercise revolves around my Nordic Track, which I would not be doing with anyone else anyway.
My outside walking is sometimes done with my DH.

Both!
I have been walking on and off for years. While I enjoy the company of a friend, I more often go alone early in the morning. It is so peaceful and quiet, and I use this time to plan and plot my day/week.
BUT...I also enjoy the gym. I have been going in the morning once DD is off to play school, and there are a few of us gals that seem to have a good time together. I haven't gone since last Friday, and I was called yesterday to see where I was and if all was okay in my world. It was nice that I was missed smile.gif .

My husband and I go to the gym together. We work different schedules and this is really the only time we have together alone. There is a daycare at the gym, so we drop the kids off and go sweat together. Our treat is to go to the whirlpool and sauna afterwards and we actually get to have "adult" conversation! :D

I exercise alone at home since I'm a night owl & exercise late, plus I use my huge selection of aerobic, toning tapes. Sometimes if I work out a bit earlier I get "joined" by my 18 month old granddaughter (extra work out to try not to step on or kick her). Also, sometimes the dogs try to help "add some weight" if I'm on my mat on the floor. They are also so kind as to try & lick off any sweat I might have caused, which results in extra arm movement on my part.
I used to walk trails with a couple of friends but it's never a real power walk when I'm with others. We exercise our mouths more than anything else!
I could never imagine having to get dressed & hop in my car to go somewhere to work out. Not to mention having to look decent & have people see me?! No way!

I find this totally depends on what I'm doing and sometimes where.
If I'm walking on a tread mill... I prefer to be alone. If outside, I like to have someone with me.
I enjoy group classes: strength training, aerobics, whatever.
If I'm working on machines, I prefer not to have someone with me. It seems more a distraction than anything else.

Curves works for me. I joined a few months ago and really enjoy going there. The days I don't go to Curves, I walk with my pedometer 1 mile or further if I can. I exercise alone...I don't know any other way...since I am a real loner to begin with. smile.gif

I don't mind exercising WITH other people, but will only workout at home if I'm alone. I refuse to let my husband see me work out.... I can do without the lewd comments or feeling self conscious. Now that the weather is getting nicer, I find that I really enjoy jogging around my neighborhood or the park. It was weird at first, but I found out that no one really pays any attention to me, which is great. It would be nice to have a walking/running partner, though.

I like to stop off at the gym on my way home from work and jump on the elliptical trainer. It's a great way to wind down and release stress after a long day at work and gives me more energy to tackle the evening. Before I started doing that, I used to just come home from work and crash in front of the tv exhausted.
Once a week I also do a full body workout with the weight machines, a water aerobics class and a tennis lesson to help add variety.

I like to exercise alone, but maybe that's because I haven't found anyone to exercise with.
I mainly do Windson Pilates at home. I have recently purchased the Tae Bo tapes, but haven't started them yet.

I've always exercised alone but since I joined the Y, I beginning to enjoy the feeling of group workout. People are friendly and share their workout tips.

I go it alone. I do Denise Austin for an hour in the morning, lift weights three days a week, and ride my stationary bike for 35mins. All loner activities.
I prefer to exercise on my own because then I don't have to rely on anybody else.
I was going walking with with DH every second day, but something always seemed to come up and he was unable to accompany me.
Now I just have my own schedule I need to keep and I am meeting my target 100%

I have exercised alone and in groups and prefer not really in a group but with other people around. I was a member at a gym for a while since I worked there I got a free membership and was motivated to work out when others were around. Since I quit working at the gym I tried to work out at home and just can not get motivated, so now I joined liberty fitness and have some motivation again. I think having other people around working out is much more motiviating than working out alone.
Can someone tell me what stats are that are after a persons name when they post? I would like to add mine but not sure what I should put in it.

I love exercising in a group, I usually have a friend with me, if I weren't with a friend, I may be tempted to stay alone.
